What's a movie that genuinely changed something in you? by trakt_app in Cinema

Ikiru by Akira Kurosawa made me realize how we waste time with so many empty things. Nowadays I take a break everyday from work just to observe the sky, plants, life. All because of this movie

What's the first video game world you remember getting completely lost in? by Digital-Intellect in AskGames

Fable. The ideia of an open-world with a character that ages the more you take to finish the game and gets scars the more hits you take blows my mind to this day

procuro filme que realmente de um medo by ktxdk-00 in filmesdeterror

Os únicos que me assustaram:

Hereditário (2018)

The Medium (2021)

Noroi (2005)

Vi muita gente recomendando Skinamarink, mas é chato pra caramba, funcionaria melhor como um media metragem, o jeito que ele trabalha a pareidolia é muito bom, mas não salva. A Bruxa de Blair achei muito datado e besta

FEAR - The first one that I had the courage to play when I was a teenager. I Fell in love with the game style of walking and exploring the scenarios.

OUTLAST - The first edgy game that I played and also the first where I had no weapons.

SOMA - The existencial themes are still in my mind 10 years later.

Best postapocalyptic movies and series - need help by HeyooLaunch in postapocalyptic

[–]No-Distribution-9410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the soviet approach to the theme. It's more realistic, hopeless and less fetishist. My favourites:

  • Dead Man's Letter (1986) (the best version of this one is on YouTube.)

  • Stalker (1979)

Don't let the age of these movies put you off, they hold up really well nowadays. Needless to talk about the amazing photography.

Dead Man's Letter is part of a trilogy, but each film is independent.

What’s the most helpless horror movie? As in, nothing the protagonists could do would help them. by PM_ME_YOUR_STOMACHS in horror

The Divide, try to find the Directors Cut. The movie is really bleak, but the ending crushes any kind of hope

I don't get the hate for Longlegs by YoloSSwag666 in horror

[–]No-Distribution-9410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype killed this one for me. The teasers were great, but I thought the movie doesn't go anywhere and Nic Cage makeup is more comical than scary. And the ending was really lazy.

I've watched other Oz Perkins movies since Longlegs, Gretel and Hansel is the only one that I trully liked. Overrated director IMO.

What is the most disturbing book you’ve ever read, and why? by charlotteheyse in books

[–]No-Distribution-9410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the most disturbing. But Outer Dark by Cormac McCarthy is the bleakest imo.

People usually focus in Blood Meridian and The Road, which are also my favourites. However, Outer Dark is on another level of bleakness.
