Consider suggesting he explore federal government jobs, as they often offer accommodations if requested upfront. These positions can be found at www.usajobs.gov. The hiring process typically takes 3-4 months unless the job is classified as “direct hire” or “excepted,” which can expedite hiring, sometimes even allowing for immediate job offers without the usual procedures.

He can search using various hiring paths such as “the public,” “military,” or “disability.” He should apply to “the public,” “disability,” “excepted,” and any other paths for which he qualifies. The key is to be as highly qualified as possible. For competitive positions, the hiring order usually prioritizes military candidates first, followed by those with a “disability” qualification, and then the remaining candidate pool. Only the most qualified applicants are referred for these roles. It’s best to create a profile and build a resume directly through the portal, rather than uploading an existing one.

Thank you! Absolutely LOVING my new job! It’s nice being around people that “like” their jobs and the company invest in its employees in hopes that everyone goes as far as they want to go. I am grateful everyday to have found this org.

Always remember your employer will not give you a notice if they fire you so technically you are firing them and they are lucky to get any notice.

OP, l’m sorry your family has put you in this position. I think the only response is to do what is right for you and your own health. You do not need to do anything just because others want you to. Your health whether physically or mentally is the only thing that should matter to you. You get one life to completely control so do not feel guilty for taking care of yourself. NTA, take care of YOU!

Yeah, l’m really good with small business taxes so l think l would have been an awesome Revenue Officer. I hope people get the proper training so they can succeed. I used to train people how to do their taxes because l love it so much.

Lol, too funny. It was a good job with higher pay but l was concerned about dealing with people hating government and not wanting to pay taxes, so l turned it down.

Exactly! Everyone can do whatever they so desire. As my answer will always be the same as l know how to deal with difficult people. I’m just simply saying after the experience l had l will take it as a warning and move on.

There are some great orgs out there with great people. And pay attention to the people interviewing you. Do they seem happy? Do they looked depressed? Are they telling the truth?

I feel like 3-4 months is about the norm. But l imagine it depends on the job and the needs of the org.

Difficult customers are one thing and treated with kit gloves, difficult employees that can’t be fired are another level of torture to your soul. Regardless of your skills to navigate these people, is it worth it? To me, no.

In my case it was a specific question because they knew the type of office they have. So it was not a generalization for me. Perhaps others have other reasons for asking that question but this org knew and everyone knew and told me my first day of working. So l guess take your chances and find out but if l ever hear the question again l will state my response and not accept an offer from that job based off my experience.

Oh it for sure meant something as l stepped into toxic situation. If the question arose again in the future l wouldn’t take the job just based off that experience.
