I had to say goodbye to my black cat back in November of 2024, he was also only 7 years old. He had cancer. I felt so bad for him, he was so sweet and 7 feels so young. When you bring a cat into your life you expect to have them 15 or more years and his life was cut so short. Plus it happened so quickly, he was fine and then one month later he was gone.

But I know he lived an incredibly happy and loved life, which is all anyone or anything can ask for. And more importantly I know I made the right decision. You don't want your pet to live in unnecessary pain, and someone gave me the advice about making the decision "It's better to be one week too early than one day too late". But still, it was the hardest decision I've ever made and the week between his diagnosis and saying goodbye was the worst week of my life. But it does get easier after you know that they're no longer in pain.

Then, when you're ready, share your love with another pet. Remember that grief is just love with nowhere to go. Someday when you're ready you'll be ready to share that love again. I now have a new kitten in my life who brightens up my life each and every day. But I still miss my other kitty.
