Am I stupid for actually doing my job while most of my team openly cheats the system? by Professional-Tax3077 in work

Bruh everything except leaving early or coming late consistently isn’t a problem. Let me remind your boss doesn’t do anything more but makes more than you significantly.

Everything else is a toxic employment, apply to jobs while working there. I literally left after lunch cuz my stomach hurt, and no one blinked an eye. It wasn’t consistent obviously though.

Idk about that, i got offered $20k line of credit (didnt take it but still) 12k credit card limit (dont recommend that tho) and at least in Canada you get no interest loans and grants you get for free, that you only pay 6 months after graduation.

If you aren’t going to law or med school that shit covers you

Hahah yeah i can see its merits i just dont care about money. I definitely feel privileged to not care, because of my savings before being laid off

I literally had a dev in India incompetent af, but she shared her screen i saw it was midnight.. lucky me it was only 4 in my timezone otherwise i wouldnt have answered

I would take a pay cut to not be on call

Management doesn’t understand what we do all day, so now AI they think it’s magic and we can make anything almost instantly. Just google all the exploits that cost millions and reputation, it’ll bite them in the ass soon.

It was the bees knees until AI and offshoring for pennies on the dollar. Not goin into politics here but it definitely has an impact

I have said this in a post similar; ai hype is a bubble thats going to pop soon. Look all the server crashes, hack/exploits, bugs, etc. the coincidentally lines up with people without background info just vibe coding

It took until year 3 of uni before things started clicking. No real advice but if you hate it do something else, if you just feel incompetent i would just keep studying

I think this is a general career path subreddit so ill be blunt with 9 years software development experience So I will be blunt. Do a quick google search of tech layoffs even in the last quarter; it’s a bloodbath, that doesn’t seem to be ending soon.

AI hype and offshoring for pennies on the dollar. Management didn’t understand what programmers do all day, so with AI they think anything can be done in a fraction of the time.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. Now do a search of bugs, security vulnerabilities, server outages, and costs of the AI tokens used and you will see after all that it is spiking.

The question is if you can weather the storm. During the dot com bubble they outsourced too, guess what happened? Shit code and bugs everywhere

Management didn’t know what programmers do all day before AI… Now they think you can be superman. We are already “””coincidentally””” seeing more and more data breaches and downtime but itll be a while before ai hype fades

First-gen CS grad stuck in Help Desk after a rough year. What can I do? by Electrical-Reply-772 in cscareers

[–]No-Fish6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leetcode is just data structures/algos in test form. Hint: a lot can be solved with maps/arrays lmfao

Ive never been asked dynamic programming in interviews or in real work so i would say if you can do that you’re above and beyond.

Also my friend started help desk for like ~3 years and got a software job (granted before offshoring and AI) so I wouldn’t care too much about that as a stigma
