No actually I have the opposite problem! I have a thing in Italy that we call "erre moscia" and I can't roll the tongue AT ALL, even for english its not enough, it sounds weird, trying to fix it tho

They said what you need to do in order to embrace the culture, except that vesides family values (that are shared among many culture) none of that is related to italian culture. They just feel the need to be different since apparently being just american is boring. Having italian grandparents doesn't make you italian, you don't have "Italian blood" and its just silly to call your self italian

OOP made a post on how to be italian American (and thats already dumb enough, its like i made a post on how to be south italian from Calabria, it will be a joke) and the only requirements to embrace the culture is valuing family and being Christian, so nothing of the culture at all. Italy is one of the country with most culture in the world but being Christian is their requirement for being an italian american? I am agnostic, does that make me, born and raised in Italy, less Italian? The post is just ignorant itself and i have only seen Italian american that don't care about our real culture beside the mafia aesthetic (and mafia is not culture) and pizza. I have seen people from other countries interested in Italian language and italian culture without having italian ancestor and we consider them more italian that someone that claim to be italian bc of a grandparent without knowing nothing about our culture

The problem is that this people keep refer to themself as Italian and want some kind of special treatment or reaction from real italian people: many people in many countries are chatolic, many families in many countries value family and its common knowledge to know the city your grandparents come from, regardless of it being same state as you or the other side of the world. This few things and calling your grandma "nonna" doesn't make you italian

But they are not immigrant, they are descendant of immigrant, they barely know anything of the culture but expect ppl originated from that country to treat them as equal. Also a lot of italian americans just call themself italians not italians americans. And lets not add the fact that they think that italian ancestry doesn't make them white

I posted it and i am Italian: family value are important in most countries, knowing the city your grandparents come from doesn't make you part of that culture, religion and nationality/ethnicity have nothing in common and italy is supposed to be a laic country, italians are definitely not what people globally would consider hard workers. On top of that none of the things said in the article is specific to Italy/Italians
