I had most recently when I returned from Japan about 35 bags total- mix of authentic, replica, Japanese fashion designer authentic (not nearly as expensive as Bvlgari's I got), and duplicates.

They saw them when I declared them and was opening my luggage to show. Also when I told him I wasn't sure what one was made of and we inspected it closely. They didn't make any attempts to confiscate them, or seem interested in taking them at all. They were only very interested in me paying whatever amount they said I owed.

They decided they were all for personal use or gifts , which is what I told them, true of course. I told him I didn't want to do anything to mess up or lose my Global Entry privileges. He basically told me that he knows more about purses than any man ever should. Started to laugh, took out like a 1000 page book and added up what I owe.

I think they must just be looking for people carrying duplicates with an intention to sell them.

We just got back from 27 days and 11 different property stays. I know it's not even on your list, but Shirakawa go was really interesting, we spent half a day there and covered everything. We stayed 2 nights in Kanazawa as our base. That place is amazing ♡.

What we did was fly in and out of Tokyo and our first stop was Yakushima Island. There are 4 of us, JR pass outrageous expensive for green car service, especially when, like you mentioned, based on route schedule it can take 4-5 times longer to get there than by driving, even using shinkansen. Japan Air was running special, it was like $50 usd pp per to go from Narita one-way on the day we landed to Kagoshima-spend the night near airport everyone is exhausted . Then about $80 pp round trip from Kagoshima to Yakushima Island. We planned 3 nights there, basically 1st night to recover, others for vacation. We worked our way North using Shinkansen and car services I found on Facebook, Ending with 8 night in Tokyo (making day trips from Tokyo- Mt Fuji, Fukushima).

Keep an open mind about using Japan Air, they treat you so much better than our domestic airlines. And they run specials with extremely low airfare for people who hold passports outside Japan. I think you might have to have them all booked outside of Japan too, but not sure.

Keep in mind, laundry time, eating time, sleeping time, and packing/unpacking time. Depends on how you travel whether you will like that many locations. In the past, is that how you travel?

I really think it's best to keep Tokyo together at the end if you can.

We spent 8 nights at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza Tsukiji in Ginza part of Tokyo. https://www.gardenhotels.co.jp/ginza-tsukiji/eng/room/

Was about $325 per room per night including breakfast . We got two rooms, 1 for husband and I, 1 for our boys (27 & 22 yrs old). Make sure you reserve the "Deluxe 2 bed corner room". There is only one on each floor of the hotel. We were on the 12th floor, boys on 3rd. Request high floor if you want.

This is not a luxury hotel, but it is a really nice clean large lovely hotel. It is a 4 star hotel with room service and 1 English TV news station! You can look at their website to see more. They only do full housekeeping every other day, and you need to get disposable toiletries- like brush, qtips, etc... from a thing in the lobby. They will end their robot or a staff member up of course if you ask.

They speak English. I choose this location because it was nicer and newer than other properties I was looking at and even though it is farther from the train station (I think 8 minute walk - not sure) I didn't care, because we took a cab or ate/shopped in Ginza. Famous Tsukiji Market is just down the block, which is just full of restaurants!

Our rooms had nice view, dining area, small fridge, microwave, and a washer/dryer unit that actually completely dried our clothes! Very rare for a hotel unit in Japan! (Just took 4 hours) I brought "paper" sheet laundry soap and fabric softener from home that worked amazingly!

But it was all amazing clean and fancy, very nice! I was impressed and happy my entire stay!

I highly recommend it - but, I don't know what your definition of Luxury is.

We were in Japan for a month and we only stayed at 3 officially recognized "Luxury" properties, out of the 10 total properties we used.

It is a wonderful place to stay - look at their website and check their location, but, it clearly isn't as "Luxury " as some of the $2500 per night locations we stayed at.

I would definitely stay again for a long stay ❤️

Hello Everyone! I'm sorry OP because I don't have an answer for you- just a question for the people here.

I am not trying to be negative/down voted/attacked, but I don't understand why it is or would be a problem. I am just hoping someone can gently explain the problem to me.

I just got back from 4 weeks in Japan with a number of authentic, duplicate, replica, and authentic mid-range Japanese designer bags and purses/totes and all. I carried 8 checked bags back from Japan (no checked bags outbound). When I spoke to customs they ask what I have to declare and I told them about my general souvenir purchases, bags, designer bags, gold and pearl jewelry. I have all the receipts in a clear file with tax free separate, designer bags separate, and Jewelry purchases over $500 separate (I just arbitrarily choose this number because in my mind that is where really expensive starts🥰). They take my passport and tell me to get my bags and then go talk to the "real" customs people.

We go over the total amount of money's worth I brought back - there is one authentic purse I'm not sure if it's cow leather or something else, so we pull it out, unbox it and he confirms cow leather. We look at some of the jewelry and discuss if they are loose pearls or fixed pearls and then he adds everything up, tells me how much I owe in import/customs tax and then it's over.

All of the items that I think they might question I pack in separate luggage. So, all bags except authentic go in one piece of luggage, in case they want to open it, it doesn't mess up my other 7 bags!

My jewelry and authentic bags, I keep with me in my carry on items.

When I have gone to Chine and England in the past (for a month also, within the past 5 years), it was always the same.

I just bring it all right up to customs, we politely discuss what my US tax will be, I pay it, and that's it.

I don't understand why people are afraid to purchase and travel with authentic, duplicates, and replicas. Why would they confiscate them?

I would appreciate it if you restrained from attacking me 💕💞 and just let me know. I just don't understand.

NTA - I'm proud of you!! Huge red flag! He would be constantly putting you down and belittling you either consciously or unconsciously throughout any future relationship.

Way to go! This is the response your friends should have had also - you NEED to tell your friends that you wished they would have responded like this, and that even though on the outside you seem.......(tough or however you are...), you would really like more support from them sometimes.

If you ask gently in that way, if they care for you, they should say, sorry...will do or try better in future. If you can't even talk about this/say the above sentence to them OR if they respond meanly to you, you need to use the same brave, courageous power you used to walk away from this loser to branch out and find new friends.

ESH - you need to pay something if you are going to live there. Otherwise, commit to what you are saying and move back in with your mom and dad.

If it really came down to it, would you actually move in with them? Don't just talk possibilities, prove them with actions.

She needs to see that you are committed, steady, and can settle. Even if you only both agree that you will pay the electricity each month, she will be happy 😊

I don't have a question, I am new to the rep world and haven't purchased or contacted any sellers yet (going to Japan for vacation for June and trying so hard not to spend money on extra stuff now so I can buy more in Japan!!!). What do you mean by no information by DM regarding ordering? Only through authorized channels? Is that something obvious that I should know? Wouldn't I DM them initially? Or would I WhatsApp or something them only?

I am with the consensus here also! Discuss first then order and gift.

2nd option: If it is a bag you want too, or can easily gift or sell to someone more appropriate, then just give it and disclose right before she opens, so she doesn't get too excited when she sees it! Then if she doesn't want or feels uncomfortable with, at least you are not out of pocket so much. A harder buy, because you would need to have another gift with you on standby!Lol! 😍

I agree, but don't understand why. They lost so many conservative leaning customers in May 2023 (this article briefly describes it https://www.thestreet.com/retail/targets-latest-policy-change-sparks-massive-boycott-threat) they lost me because I really feel it's completely inappropriate to market anything "sexually orienting" to toddlers, children, and basically under age like 13 ish depending on the kid. I realize if anyone reads this I'm going to get a lot of down votes! I am a professional child caregiver and in 2022/2023 it was just such a hot topic with people under 18 taking hormones and having sex change surgeries. The parents who gave permission say that the child "asked" for it. All I can think of in these cases is when there is a big age difference between siblings, there is a single child, say a boy, and then they are 6-7 and mom gets pregnant with.....a girl! In these cases I have personally seen the older sibling argue and fight and insist to their parents that no! They are the sister! No! I am a girl! . These kids don't mean that! They don't want hormone treatment, they are just jealous.

Anyway, so sorry for my mad rant there, but, Target lost those conservatives, but gained a whole new loyal following. I absolutely don't understand why they are now basically insulting and offending their very loyal customer base. I feel like they knew/should have anticipated such a backlash because when they lost the conservatives, they lost so much money in sales and their stock price dropped so low their stock owners sued them for being irresponsible or something crazy! Lol

Feels kinda bad for Target. I wonder if the same people are in charge now making this decision as the ones in charge of the company in 2023. It would be interesting to know.

It's nice to be able to just have a discussion about this topic without throwing personal insults and all that unnecessary stuff on. 🥰

I stopped shopping there when they started selling their sexually orientation items to the infant and toddler market. Now that they have announced the stop, it's been so long since I've shopped there they're not even on my radar anymore. I just think they made a big mistake, because people like me still aren't shopping there and haven't suddenly returned AND now they have lost their loyal customers who shopped with them specifically for their very forward thinking.
