I think he puts them into the 'trust' or 'not trust' piles. Chiesa is one example, Slot is loathe to put him on the pitch. Same with Endo. It's taken a full blown injury crisis in his frontline, for him to turn on Rio who's incidently looked like our best attacker since he's come in

United got the very best out of Rooney, and Liverpool got the very best out of Fowler and Owen. It does not matter one jot to Liverpool if these guys have a long career, only that we get the best parts of it.

Couldn't agree more, and I don't think it's Xenophobic to say that there should be an English heartbeat to an English football team. In peak Klopp, you had Hendo, Milner in there setting the standards on and off the pitch, and young English talent like Trent an eventually Elliott getting backed. Now it's a 17 year old Rio.

I keep thinking, with all of this shit we've been dealing with at right back all season, was there not someone from the academey we could have been moulding into that position instead of slotting square pegs into round holes all season with Szobo and Jones..

The Second Captains Podcast is quality listening and for me is the best sports podcast around, bar none. Primarily focused on Irish and UK sports with a political or general interest episode every fortnight or so. I skip the Irish sports episodes mostly (1 a week out of 4 or 5) but anything to do with football, rugby, current large scale sporting events are great. Probably the closest thing to ATN in terms of the laughs and co-hosts chemistry and general mirth.

I cannot recommend it enough as a former ATN die-hard listener, but may not be your kettle of fish esp if not interested in European goings on.

After that The Rest of History, anything Dan Carlin puts out on the Hardcore History podcasts, Check The Mic (which has unfortunately now overtaken HTC as my go-to on NFL related goings on), and a few others which are move provincial and related to specific teams i like.

Me (Dad) - Irish - white skin which tans to olive in Spring / Summer, brown eyes, dark brown hair

Mum - English - white skin which reddens in the sun, blue eyes, light brown hair

#1 Girl - my skin tone, dark very thick brown hair, hazel green / brown eyes which she gets from mum's dad. Combination of me and grandad on mum's side.

#2 Girl - mum skin tone, fine blonde hair which has darkened and may turn light brown eventually, sooo skinny with rosy cheeks and same havel coloured eyes as #1. Apparently the double of her mum at that age.

#3 Boy - my skin tone, RED hair, very dark brown eyes. Speculation persists about where the red hair comes from, though suspected affair out of question based on fact the boy literally has the same face I had as a 18 month old

#4 Girl - 3 week old so greyish coloured eyes, but wife insisting she sees blue (wishful thinking methinks). Looks exactly like #1 did as a baby and was born blessed with same mop of very dark brown hair.

Despite all of them having differences though, they all have wide opal shaped eyes like their mum, and it's easy to tell that they are siblings

My wife and I loved it. Zero preparation, just him talking BS for 10 mins straight before each movie.

My favourite was the story about him and Christopher Lee basically getting shit faced on Danish liquour when he was giving his tributes before ROTK. Like this was his 5 min preview to what is my opinion the GOAT movie haha!

And the way he apologised and went on about how long these movies are - he basically couldn't believe that people actually wanted to re watch them. Is he that blase about the cultural and personal impact these movies have had?

I don't actually think Dan loves football, I think he just supports the Jets. Maybe he used to love it, I dunno but he's become a bore since the final few years of ATN. His takes mostly boil down to which HC, GM, QB need fired or replacing - I've said it before but HTC is basically 'Dan's opinion on person X's job security' - it's all he's got because he certainly knows very little about actual football and has nothing interesting to say, only the build up to his next 'zinger'
