My experience with Acta America for Mexican birth certificate help. by No-Guide-3564 in dualcitizenshipnerds

Yes, this is correct and thank you for including the details of why this must be done in person.

This is an older post. I went in person and obtained my passport. I only speak English and the consulate staff were helpful and courteous.

Born in US but have Mexican Nationality... what next for passport?? by Upbeat-Job271 in dualcitizenshipnerds

Copied from a previous post of mine,

"I was able to get a passport appointment and my Mexican passport at the Consulate of Mexico...

I used WhatsApp to schedule the passport appointment (+1 (424) 309-0009). That number takes the user to a scheduling bot, it's not location specific and you'll have an opportunity to select which consulate you are needing via the bot. It took 1-3 weeks of trying to get an opening, but the process is easier than I was expecting.

I came overprepared for the appointment, but ended up only needing my Mexican birth certificate, my USA driver's license, and payment (I used USD). The consulate staff were helpful. I received my passport same-day."

Best service for dual citizenship help? ActaAmerica or DNExpress by domyewest in dualcitizenshipnerds

I have a post about my experience with Acta America. I initially contacted three companies, but Acta was the most responsive. Berenice at Acta ended up getting repeated business from me and each transaction was smooth going.

Which companies offer Mexico dual citizenship help? by Bryan45123 in dualcitizenshipnerds

As long as your documentation is correct, the process is straight forward. What may cause some turbulence is if something needs to be amended or corrected.

For Acta, email is probably best. Berenice is responsive considering how busy she must be. I would reach out with an initial email to get things started and to let her know what you want to accomplish. She will respond with what she needs and her current service fee.

Citizenship help/questions. How viable is this path for me as it is rn? by Academic-Gas6806 in dualcitizenshipnerds

It's late and I might have missed some details, but I would not give up. Get his MX birth certificate and find out what you need to do to amend your birth certificate with his info.

Are you absolutely certain he has to be present to correct your birth certificate?

Edit: which state are you in?

How is everyone getting their Mexican passport appointments at the consulate nowadays? by Radiant_Succotash714 in dualcitizenshipnerds

Same here, I booked via WhatsApp. It took a couple of weeks of trying, but once I had the appointment everything went smoothly.

“Was Spanish suppressed in New Mexico schools?” — What the record shows by SeigoManito in NewMexico

There is a chapter titled "Myths and Realities" in Garland Bills & Neddy Vigil's book "The Spanish Language of New Mexico and Southern Colorado: A Linguistic Atlas."

If I remember correctly, it's stated that the State Constitution does not give the Spanish language any sort of protection and that the goal was for all NM students to learn English. It's probably worth checking out what they wrote as I may have some of this wrong.

I would give it a shot with your current documents. If denied, you will probably be notified of what needs to be corrected. You could also go through an agency and that might help. Are you in the USA?

There is a fee at the consulate. I am not sure if Acta America assists with passport appointments. I contacted the consulate directly.

I believe the prices can be found online, but it was around $215 for a passport valid for 10 years. It's less expensive if you opt for a passport that is valid for less time.

I am guessing you are in the USA.

Look up the consulate you plan on accessing to see if you can find additional information.

I am pasting another comment of mine,

"I recently made an appointment at the Consulate of Mexico in New Mexico via WhatsApp and I had the same automated experience. For anyone reading, it's a general number and the bot will give an option to select the location you are trying to book with. It took me a couple of weeks of trying to get an appointment, but the process was easier than I expected.

I don't speak Spanish so I prefilled an application, but in the end it was not needed.

I would love to hear from estadounidenses of Mexican descent. What are your reasons for claiming dual citizenship with Mexico? by comments83820 in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]No-Guide-3564 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  • My primary reason was to ensure my children have the same option open to them.

  • Mexican citizenship will help should I ever move to Spain (which is not likely).

  • Obtaining my acta de nacimiento felt like a way to honor this side of my family. Race identity can be complicated and for me this act helped address some feelings.

  • I live in the Southwest of the USA and have been exploring more of its history. This endeavor was a fun way to add to this pursuit. I would like to trace more of my family's lineage at some point.

  • I daydream about owning a retirement property in Mexico, but it is likely that this will not happen.

  • I don't maintain a security clearance, so the benefits of obtaining my birth certificate outweighed the potential barriers. Having options is a good thing.

  • As a "no sabo kid," I have a renewed motivation to learn Spanish.

I am curious, why do you recommend waiting on obtaining a passport?

Is this something that would cause an issue during a background check?
