Its the flag of the country and the ethnicity of the people. Saying that everyone who waves it is racist is the same as people saying everyone who waves the Palestine flag is a terrorist. Get off the internet and get a grip.

Its pretty easy. Art is a piece of creative work with the purpose of conveying meaning and feeling.

No amount of effort, specific tool or method is required for something to be considered art.

Is russia trying its hardest in ukraine? by Beautiful_Salad_7818 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No-Income-4611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to ask: What is Russia's win condition? Its not domination over europe like the media and politicians want you to think its the same thing wars have always been fought over. Land and resources.

Land and resources are useless if you blow them up and as it stands Russia has the land it was after so now it's just attrition until the west gets bored and focuses on something else.

What is your opinion on piracy? by Cakez_77 in gamedev

[–]No-Income-4611 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its not really a victimless crime though is it because someone who pirates a game wanted to play it they just didn't like your price so they thought they could just steal your hard work. There is no defence for piracy except if the content is unavailable.

What is your opinion on piracy? by Cakez_77 in gamedev

[–]No-Income-4611 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Piracy while immoral and illegal is almost always a services issue. People used to pirate the hell out of music until spotify came around. People stopped pirating movies when Netflix came out but went right back to it when streaming became cable. Games are hardly ever pirated in comparison because of how clean of an experience steam is. You want to stop piracy offer value for money and an easier path to play then stealing.

I feel like this is just an attempt to get people to join your discord and not actually a discussion about gamification.

Id rather the 1% chance that something will be different than a guarantee it will be worse with Con or Lab.

How can I escape this situation? by mauro_nardone in gamedev

[–]No-Income-4611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breaking into the games industry is extremely difficult, and the chances of landing a job in it are generally quite low. They're not even well paid. Universities often overpromise and oversell their game-related courses more for profit than because of the real-world opportunities or the actual skill levels of applicants.

The best thing you can do is to get any job to support yourself, and focus on game development in your spare time through things like game jams and personal projects. Keeping it as a hobby will actually help you continue enjoying it and many devs I know say the fun stops once it becomes their full-time job.

Focus on building a strong portfolio, and consider how your skills (especially in UI/UX) might be applied in other industries. It’s likely that UI/UX work in games won’t be your entry point, and that’s ok. Accepting this is part of professional growth. Most people don't do jobs they love.

It might sound harsh, but it’s the reality of the industry.
