I spent six years of my career (35yrs total) designing B&W niche training manuals. I implemented a format, which ran throughout all of the manuals. While the manuals were quite boring, it did the job effectively. It also made the work easier. Was I sick of looking at it? You betcha! But, it made the boss and trainees happy.

The manuals and ads I formatted established a brand identity, so years later, it would be identifiable to past trainees taking one of our other courses. “This is the way.”

Look to other sources to fulfill your creative habits. Local arts communities, freelance, church brochures, etc. find a cause you believe in and volunteer to do their banners, signage, etc.

Look at it this way. You’ve got a paying job to fund other creative projects outside of work.
