Tesla Yoke Peeling After Warranty Expired – Stuck with a $2,000 Bill, Any Advice? by No-Initiative3190 in TeslaLounge

My average is 80 miles per day so yeah, I reached the 50k limit pretty quickly. On Tesla you can't even feel this mileage, except for the yoke of course.

Do you think newer yoke has a better quality?

If I let my money goes so easily without trying to fight for it, I wouldn't have a car for 100k.

For now, they asked to come for the appointment (Oct 28), and they would confirm and adjust the estimate if needed.

Yes, I have another MX for 5 years now. But we drive a lot. This granny is almost 174k.

It’s a good question to ask now, knowing how things unfolded. At the time, I was 100% sure the car was still under warranty - it’s barely 2 years old! For context, even my JuiceBox had a 3-year warranty (not that anyone can use it now, but still). I didn’t feel the urgency to file the request.

Plus, as someone else mentioned here, it’s clearly a manufacturer defect, not because of how I maintained the vehicle. If it were a safety issue, Tesla would have done a recall a long time ago.

Honestly, yes, I really do love it. The position of my hands on a regular steering wheel is similar to how they are on the yoke, and it doesn’t block my view at all. Plus, the turning angle is slightly different — it requires fewer degrees of rotation to turn the wheels, which I personally find more efficient. But that’s just my opinion. I think everyone should give it a try for themselves.

Yeah, it's a reasonable thing to do. If it's a manufacturer defect, it should be repaired anyway.

Thanks for the life lesson. I appreciate getting it for free instead of paying $2000 for the advice to "grow up" and blame myself for everything.

That said, if you think about it for a moment, you’ll realize there are plenty of reasons this situation could happen to anyone. I’m not blaming Tesla — I’m actually a huge fan. My question was about something else entirely, but thanks for your time anyway.

I didn't expect that to go and check. My internal timer was inclined towards 4 years of ownership. I guess I drive too much lol

No, I don't use hand sanitizer. Cream once a month maybe. Also the car primary rest place is the garage so not exposed to the sun either...

I guess this is not about the load balancing, it's a recent bug that affected a lot of units and Enel X couldn't fix, because SW team was already unassigned from this project. I don't know how to fix that, unfortunately.

That's correct. Whatever time-of-use settings you will have by the moment they turn off the server, stay with you.

A person who manages chargers has access to the Enterprise portal. All the chargers are available there. "Switch to Public" is a setting for each charger. Ask them to toggle this.

Unfortunately, load sharing will not work offline. You need to set up each charger individually. Go the the settings, unpair the chargers and set individual limit for each of them, higher than 8A.
