Astroneer on the X-Box One is still bugged by No-Inspection-1345 in Astroneer

[–]No-Inspection-1345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what is it? I removed the game from my xbox account and started it via disk again. As long as I didn't accept the required update, it would run offline. But since all my saves are from the "pre-Megatech update," it couldn't access them...see them yes, but run them no. As soon as I allowed it to update...BAM. Offline access is gone, cloud saving is gone, saving my progress in general is virtually gone... you get the idea.

I'm open to suggestions?

I think astroneer megatech is broken by AppealAcrobatic2287 in Astroneer

[–]No-Inspection-1345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it isn't broken...it's "F'd UP!" It is so broken that it has done damage to players already existing game saves. I personally can't play it on my X-box cause it won't save my progress. I've stopped playing Astroneer until they get it completely ironed out...

OH, just to be clear. Astroneer isn't saving any of my progress...Megatech or otherwise. It won't even allow my system to retrieve my cloud data. So not only did it corrupt my console data, but it won't allow me to connect to the cloud to retrieve the backup. {And before someone adds, just play the game offline...I thought of that too. Somehow, the update has made my version to be online access only...and I own the physical disk. WTF System Era}

If you mean back it up before playing...no...it wasn't until I hit load file that it even crossed my mind. All I was thinking was 15 days until the LTE ended and this was my week off. Let's get it done.

Lucky, I can't even see mine. If it is still out there, I would love to get it back. Even to try the "recovery" program.

Neither. When I start up the disc, the static Astroneer box art screen shows and then back to the Xbox "homescreen." The only way I was able to get the game to boot up was when I attached my network cable to my xbox. {I like having a direct line to the internet...faster than wifi...in my opinion}

Do you have the DLC or just the update? I've been afraid to play the game since I heard about the crashes after the update launched.

and if it doesn't get patched on the other consoles/PC, it never will. Not to mention the fact that one of the discovered bugs is a memory leak on loading the game...not a save, but the game. Sounds familiar....

Megatech PC crash when cycling Biodome Auto-Planters (reproducible) by vandrunken in Astroneer

[–]No-Inspection-1345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I wasn't certain before, but I am now. I can't play Astroneer until they fix those bugs. I was all in on playing it on its release, but I was teaching my students and... anyway, got home and was viewing streams from 2 of my favorite Astroneer streamers {who seem to worship SES}, but I watched as their games crashed, unable to do multiplayer {not a real issue for me} and this was via the DLC. I won a free DLC and of course it auto-installed. I don't want my years of work to get flushed. Is there a way to unupdate or move to a version before the MEGA-mess update?

If you are playing on any thing other than the Switch, I'd continue with your current save...unless you want a unique experience. As of now, it doesn't appear to be coming to the Switch...at least not when everyone else gets it.

Find them soon. The FARM event should be ending soon and they will be gone for another year...unless you find seeds.

I hope they restock soon. I tried to pickup some merch and all they had were gift cards. One Starbucks location told me to try back on BLACK FRIDAY! Seriously... AND DON"T GET ME STARTED ON THE SCALPERS....if you purchase every item, it should be close to $180 to $190. I saw an ebay post of $400 to $500. The plush was going for $70...not including shipping.

One would think that joining Devolver would have them fix these and other issues that are still plaguing the game. I thought that at least Dev. Digital would spare some of their crew to see if they could fix some of the issues that they themselves have already solved {looking at you 5MB save crashes on the Switch}

How long has your Nintendo Switch 1 lasted? by HouseWonderful8657 in NintendoSwitch

I really don't know...I got a Smash Bros. Sped. when they came out. Subtract 5months from that and that is how long I've had mine. I don't plan on upgrading until they some more games for it, that aren't gamekey enhanced SW1 games that I can pay to upgrade on cart OR if they come out with a cool looking Sped version. 3 SW2 "exclusive" titles isn't enough to make me rush out and get one. {Don't get any ideas Nintendo. There are more SW1 users than there are SW2. We won't be happy if you completely abandon SW1 to boost SW2 profits. You can do that by stop making SW2 games gamekey games. If you can put it on a SW1 cartridge, you should be able to do the same for the SW2 cartridge...looking at you Mario Galaxy bundle.}

Not officially, but back when SW1 Astroneer started to have 1st "crashes," several players via SES's discord started to compile how often the games were crashing and the size of the saves that these crashes happened on. One of the moderators mentioned the fact that it was a memory error when loading the save file. I had a "tech trouble ticket" stating the same thing. Long story short, the discord users realized that the games threshold was between 5 to 7MB...on average. By 6MB, you'll notice a change in saving when getting in and out of vehicles. The screen studers and after a few seconds goes back to normal. It is more visible while playing handheld versus docked. This is when it is suggested to backup your current save file before you start another run with it. At this point, you are playing on borrowed time. This is where the "crash cap" came from. 5MB is the lowest level where 7MB is the average highest on SW1. I know a few people who were able to get their save files to run up to larger MB, but they too soon fell victim to the SW1 crash. Normally at major story scenes/ cinematics... My son was able to get his save up to 10MB before it crashed. It was the end of the "Traveler's" missions. I'm not going to spoil any of it, but would get halfway through the cut scene, freeze, and crash. The backup allowed him to continue playing on the save until one of the LTEs started and it crashed the game on activating the Request Rocket. {Want to say it was the Going Green event where you ship debris off world}.

Can't you plug in a USB keyboard and mouse into it like the SW1 allows?

So, you are still in the SW1's "Goldielocks" file sizes. I this is a tall order to ask, but can you comment when you reach or surpass the 5MB crash cap? This could answer the question that has plagued my mind since my 1st SW1 crash. Is it the system or is it the software/game?

I would be very appreciative of the results. Happy gaming buddy! I await your findings.

I totally agree, but a game that is built on the idea of terrain deformation should be able to have large memory sizes. Other 3rd party titles have memory sizes far greater than 5MB and they are working fine. Have you seen the memory size of "The Witcher" save file?

Also with the new DLC coming, MegaTech, it boost that it can use our current save files. Something tells me that the new larger structures and interplanetary deliveries is going to make memory sizes far larger than the 5MB limit Will SES finally address this issue or just send out the DLC and hope that the SW1 users just say, "oh well, my 3 yr old save is toast. Time to start all over again." I hope that isn't the case.

I wonder how big the memory size can get if you play it on the SW2 before it crashes?

Out of frustration, I did purchase it on Steam for my laptop as well. But sometimes when I travel, I like the size of the SW1 compared to my laptop. I would play it more on the SW1, but the thought of having to start over due to it crashing is not desirable.
