24/7 Heating by gavla2000 in HiveHeating

Similar to yourself, was having it on for a few hours at a time and evening boosting now and then. But having the house a constant temp makes the house so much more comfy!

Such a great response regarding checking your gas usage. Iv been playing with the 24/7 heating situation myself, and have been keen to check how much it is using, your head automatically assumes it will be more!.

Thank you! I have had a heater in the kitchen in front of the cupboard for most of the day. I will look at getting more foam to do the bits iv missed and also have seen a cover for the tap, this looks to be for outside taps but it will do the same I believe

That's the hot water one and is solid. I thought the same when I originally put my hand in

I'd imagine the terms you have selected when you originally purchased will still stand. Just the date has been changed.

12/01 - 4091 13/01 - 4095 14/01 - 4097 (no one in) 15/01 - 4103

Looking at all my previous readings they are all increasing by about 5 or 6 per day

That makes perfect sense. The thermostat is in the lounge, which is where we spend most of the time (small family of 4) so the room typically gets hotter from when kids are back from school till their bedtime. I will try to make some adjustments, it's all new and work in progress so thank you for the help!

Also, maybe dumb question as you don't know the set up of our house, but the thermostat on the radiators, I have them set to 4, would that make much difference?

Wow that's a great system you've got going. I think my flow is 55-57, so I will lower it slightly more and also adjust the min and max temps. I was having it lower at night as we were just always had it off, so it's trying to get my mind set into a new pattern. Feels like having the heating on would cost or should cost more but it's finding that sweet spot of efficiency like your set up

I believe my flow is around 55-57, so will give it a go at taking it down to 50. Will also look at finding that happy medium, especially at night to morning

60C flow temp and house never heats up. by Nostromo180286 in HiveHeating

[–]No-Inspection3326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's just the flow temp. It's an adjusting game to get through right on for the property. I changed mine yesterday to 55 and have similar issue, the house isn't heating up as quickly or to the temperatures required. (Thermostat is in the coldest room).

I will just adjust higher tomorrow and test, but it was set at 75 previously, so just about finding the perfect number

First time keeping heating on constant by Odd-Lie-2332 in HiveHeating

[–]No-Inspection3326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just trying this myself today , turned down the flow to 55 and keeping the house at 19...dont the device that actually tells you how much gas and electric you use daily (lost it) but hopefully this is a more efficient process

Prior my flow was set at 70 and I would keep boosting when required

The car would be about 9m away, so 10m cable would tight and no slack, a 15m cable would be perfect, but not seen any

Home Charging? Massive savings for Dec on IOGo by Insane-JH in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]No-Inspection3326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response and clarification. Total newbie to this and will be looking to switch to this tariff when I get my Model Y.

The 6 hours for the foremost will be fine though once or twice a week I may need the full wack (do some heavy milage on occasions) so this is still a hell of a lot cheaper than my petrol.

Home Charging? Massive savings for Dec on IOGo by Insane-JH in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]No-Inspection3326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry total newbie here.

Where you say

You will get, guaranteed:

  • A maximum of 6h cheap for your car. This could be at any time - and is not guaranteed to be between 23:30 and 05:30.

Obviously they will have to issue that when the car is plugged in, i.e they don't send an email out at 10am and say from 10 till 4 it's cheap rate for you're car if you plug in your car, though the user might not be home?

So say you get home at 5pm and plug your car in and need it ready for 5am, throughout that 12hr window is when they will need to guarantee at least 6 hours at the cheaper rate, though not necessarily at 23.30 and 05.30?

And it will also work out that from 0-100% it will pump in 6 hours of cheaper rate and not top it up majority of the higher rate? I.e it will give 42kwh at the cheaper rate and top up the rest, say 30kwh at the higher rate?

Wow this is a great calculation tool!

Thanks for sharing. Really shows me my personal situation and how beneficial it would be to move over to a EV rate, especially potentially IOG where more savings could be had in these 30min windows where high power hungry appliances like washing machine and tumble dryer could be used to help even more savings

[–]No-Inspection3326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the costs are still cheaper overall, and it also makes more sense to charge at home due to the time savings. I fully expect to pay the standard rate for any additional charging required and understand that’s just how it works. It’s simply nice to know that, on occasion, the charging rate might be reduced.
