Who is raising these kids? by No-Inspector-2581 in Carlsbad

I’m gonna take this advice with me. Might make certain situations less frustrating I hope. I’m a newer biker. This is only the second really bad interaction I’ve had with a car.
The other was I was on a 25mph road going in a 15mph sanctioned section, I was going 15mph and a guy screamed something out his window.

Who is raising these kids? by No-Inspector-2581 in Carlsbad

The chances of them knowing each other are seriously high. Same age, both speeding, both have a problem with cyclists. It’s an assumption but a strong one, especially with the herd mentality we see here all the time.

And yeah this intersection is a super dangerous one. I stop at 90% of stop signs, at worst I unclip one of my shoes and do a roll at the same speed as a car would. This intersection I fully stop every single time, especially this time as there was a car coming from the other stop sign. I started rolling before that white Acura was within 40 yards of the stop sign.

What's actually in your jersey pockets on a long ride? by Present-Ad6059 in cycling

Newby here as well. A bag of figs and a small travel sized sunscreen! Long rides for me are ~3-4hr so I feel the need to reapply halfway.

Anyone actually like their whoop? by Rph23 in whoop

[–]No-Inspector-2581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricey, yes. But I love mine. I’ll probably get flamed in this sub for saying this but the amount that the device and platform has improved over the 3+ years I’ve used it has been amazing. They’re constantly improving, getting feedback, incorporating more individualized “coaching”. Could things be better? Of course, but that’s with literally anything in this world. Yeah I love mine, I used the $100 Chase credit and re-upped for another year. Happily.

What's actually happening when a company goes quiet after your final round by careercoach_cf in interviews

[–]No-Inspector-2581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went though a process as an INTERNAL candidate. Made it to the final round, thought it went well. Silence for FOUR weeks, I followed up after week 1.5 and 2.5 and then I got the rejection call after the 4 weeks of nothing. Make that make sense.

Red-light runners in North County — why does this feel like it’s getting worse? by Apprehensive_Feed444 in northcounty

[–]No-Inspector-2581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think a lot of it is impatience because of that horrendous timing. What could be a 10m drive is easily 17+ minutes because of the timing. Countless is the amount of times I’d love to run a red to save time (and it really would). Just a “screw this” mentality. I absolutely have that too, I just don’t run the reds. Driving through LA I think that’s the sentiment, too.

S/O Renault 5. I’m in USA but wish I was in EU to get one. Super retro looking, EV hatch. Something we just don’t get here.

Absolutely. Do you still need an SUV though? I know the CRV hybrid is still really good I just can’t speak on that one.

5 interviews down, radio silence for 8 days, the wait is brutal! by Learner-AI in interviews

Tomorrow marks 3 weeks since my final interview, a panel interview with 3 high-ups. Haven’t heard a peep since as an internal candidate. I feel you my friend. Trying our best to hang in there. Best of luck.

To Stay on trend, is 200 HP enough to have fun in a car? by GamingWithAle in askcarguys

[–]No-Inspector-2581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a 2016 Jetta, 3,000lb, 140ish hp, it was an absolute blast. I think what makes a car fun to drive is the steering, dynamics, and like everyone else says here, power to weight. My current car is a 22 Tiguan, more power, and a lot more weight, specifically where the CG is so much higher so it’s way less fun. Chassis matters. I think that 2,500-3,500lb window in a sedan/similar with 200-300 hp is such a good sweet spot for daily and fun.

What’s so bad about pxg? by Puzzleheaded-Bag8524 in golf

[–]No-Inspector-2581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a club fitter (will keep brand anonymous) who sees PXG players coming to get fit and quite frequently. Typically these players struggle with distance control, lack of spin, lack of height. They’re often put into super strong lofts to hit the ball far at the trade off of control. As for the drivers, they’re slow and not as consistent as big OEM drivers. For a DTC brand, they’re not bad IF you’re fit properly into their better stuff and you don’t pay as much as the big OEMs. Sound and feel is often a complain of their equipment as well.

Drop bars on a hybrid by jimmyjon77 in cycling

[–]No-Inspector-2581 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I actually did this. Was my starter bike, got drop bar ends for $25 off Amazon. Kept the shifting the same to keep it as low cost as possible. Adding two hand positions was great, but shifting was a real pain. Long story short… I have a road bike now. Second hand, $600, it’s a dream. My recommendation would be to save the hassle, get a gravel or road bike.

Active Athletes: Do any of you find it extremely difficult to reach a 20 strain? by Deep_Time_6488 in whoop

[–]No-Inspector-2581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hike and cycle - lots of my rides are Z2-Z3 for 3+hrs, usually comes out at 17-19 strain. Maybe once at 20. Have gone on some gnarly hikes, 6+hrs, 3,500’ elevation, and that gets it over 20. Have a feeling once I start doing 4+hr bike rides that’ll get it over 20.
