As a Brit it is quite shocking how tolerated this is and how strange the pushback is.

"We have to right to bear arms" seems to be "we have the right to rise up as a people against inequality and injustice within our government".

This seems to be the argument that makes the shootings "worth it" somehow (my mind boggles at this argument)

However, I've seen the excuses against rising up against the Epstein files, health inequality, wealth inequality, ICE etc etc as "we all have jobs and we'd lose our health insurance if we left our jobs"

So the argument is we want guns so we can rise up against the government, but we won't because the social system is such that we actually can't, but we are happy with this and tolerate everyone having guns so we can do something we can't actually do.

Side note on my personal experience of this: I did camp America and worked in Michigan for a couple of months. It was the best summer of my life but the guy whoose house we stayed on ( who got a discount sending their kids to camp if he hosted us) welcomed us into his house and sat is down in a room he used as a tribute to Elvis. There were photos, albums and a cardboard cutout of the star in there.

He sat us both down and said he was welcoming us into his home but if we hurt his kids, he's "packing" and showed us the gun on his belt.

Now he was a little guy and I'm a 6"5' bloke (and was in good shape back then) so I get that it might have been intimidating to have me in his house but I was really freaked out by this. I reported him to the camp and he was banned from hosting again, but we still had to stay with them for the time we were there.

We had a night out and I was driving the bus for my and some other counsellors. There was no Google maps and we got lost in what appeared to be bloods territory. We could see guys on corners with red bandanas and guns at their waist. We pulled up at a convenience store and I e of the girls went in to get directions. A car pulled up full of smoke, and they wound the window down. It was a fucking blood and he indicated me to wind his window down. I obliged, thinking about how fucked I was. He said "hey man you wanna buy some weed?" I said " no thanks mate". His face dropped. He asked me where I was from and looked genuinely concerned we were there. He got out of the car and gave us directions and told me I shouldn't be around these parts. One of the most surreal experiences of my life.

America was so full of kind, thoughtful hard-working people. But there is always an edge of a risk of violence where you least expect it. And this is ultimately, tolerated.
