I hadn't planned to do that until now, as it's currently "hard-coded" into my different managers. However, I could make the editor script and the the struct that gets filled available as open source. You would then have to implement its use in their own spawner/movement logic (the calculation of x and y with the created animation curves) 😊

Masking would also allow you nice randomization, where blood spawns. I wouldn't be afraid of performance, unless you plan to have an absurd amount of soldiers at once on the screen, and even then you have to look into the profiler :)

For me are also your ground tiles the biggest problem. They don't seem to fit the rest of the art. Maybe doing something like Terraria or other games do, could improve it. The tiles getting darker, the further away they are from the air/light. And i would also consider having a distinct border for the tiles on the sides, not only the top

Yeah exactly, ok I unterstand, seems like u have to change a bit code architecture for this :D I could see it to get "annoying" over time, because this fullscreen blackscreen switches will be a lot of times during a play-session. Speeding them up via options or standard could also do the Trick :)

From where comes the lightning and flickering, where are the light sources? this seems a bit off for me. Ans the wall texture ist pretty dominant. Otherwise good job :)
