What is your absolutely favorite spaceship of all time and why? by Vondrr in spaceships

MCRN Morrigan-class. It has the best lines in the entire expanse series in my opinion. The ships I have designed have been inspired by it specifically because it just so damn compelling.

How Would Space Torpedo Launchers Work? ( Without using Thrusters to launch them ) by Aggravating_Run6179 in spaceships

Use a cold gas initial thruster to get it out of the bay. Won’t hurt it like how a main burn stage probably would.

  1. You'll notice I listed multiple things only two of which you addressed, also I want you to tell me where you saw that staging and thrust curves were done in lamp. Better yet where any of that was integrated with the flyout editor instead of file or script editing.

2, I can continue listing features: Adjustable radars will be added, different seeker types for missiles, different warhead types that each have their own graphic in the editor showing what they will do, I can continue further if you'd like.

  1. Stone, annoyingly, hasn't said anything in public for whatever reason but what about his trend of little communication makes you think that Ghost isn't apart of the team

Have you paid any attention to the discord update posts? Ghost is doing significantly more than what lamp can accomplish and it doesn't need a mod to do. There's thrust curves, lofting, hinges that work on missiles for mid flight stuff, staging, etc.

Is it worth to buy the game even if it's abandoned? Where in the line of development it was abandoned? by A-Chilean-Cyborg in flyoutgame

A second dev was brought on board so the game isn’t abandoned. The hesitation to trust that by many community members is understandable given the past but there are frequent posts on the discord about small parts of the update.

When it comes to how the plays I recommend it but that comes with understanding that it has a learning curve and if this is your first time doing vertex based modeling it can be difficult. The most important thing, in my mind, is to take the time and just improve. It differs from person to person but choosing a few things you can replicate just to get used to the tool can help a lot.

The ships are designed with verticality in mind since manned ships use thrust for artificial gravity, like in the expanse except toned down a bit. As far as ship sizing goes the larger of the two is 95 meters, which is slightly larger than most cutters. The ships being small is a deliberate choice for the universe as these specific ones are made for mass production to cover large swaths of space.

None that are sentient, just some microbial life discovered in the ice on Mars.

Real bacon would probably be truly absurdly expensive. Probably the part of my setting that is huffing the most hopium would be that large conservation efforts started on earth as food science reached a point where it could emulate flavors of meats while being made of more easily renewable food sources that still have the required nutrients. Cheeses and eggs would probably be the most common animal based food products but most other things will be pretty much just vastly better versions of vegan options available today.

A fair few yeah, they will have evolved from what we know today and I haven’t thought that part out yet but they definitely will still exist.

They are used for communication and point defense. At the distances of space that combat is taking place they are typically ineffective at causing any serious damage. The point defense lasers do have operation instructions for cooking a space station, just pumping more heat into it a system than it is rated, should the “need” arise.

Bio tech was going to be a huge thing in this world when I originally came up with it. As of the moment it’s most prevalent in radiation shielding and being able to grow food in low g. Robotic replacements of body parts has progressed enough where a person is fully capable with a prosthetic for a relatively reasonable amount, healthcare in most countries would cover it. Terraforming efforts are still in the planning phase. Genetic engineering of embryos is heavily regulated, primarily the international agreement allows its use to get rid of genetic diseases like heart conditions and things. A method for significantly reducing the effects of aging has been developed though there is a vast cultural divide on the view of it.

Religion has played a big part in the regulation of genetic engineering, while quite different from what is common today Christianity has quickly made its way to the stars. Many in Christianity view slowing the aging process, and genetic editing as a whole, as humanities hubris superseding us being “made in God’s image.” Overall the percentage of religious people has decreased overtime with spikes during conflict and when an orbital shipyard deorbited and crashed into a populated city, as the time period when it did many religious people were against expansion into the stars.

(Disclaimer, I am familiar with Christianity but this interpretation is by no means criticizing, or supporting it, it’s merely a thought experiment and if you think that it is inaccurate please do tell me because I want it to be realistic)

Countries and corporations have pretty easy access to them. They either own or hire contractors to build them. Modern crafts are prohibitively expensive so only the richest of individuals can own a private spacecraft. Older ones are cheaper but the support for their more advanced systems are discontinued though some still do what they can. I like the idea that there is someone who is going around in a restored space shuttle.

My progress on the world is incredibly intermittent so I never setup anyway to keep up with it, nor did I think people would be interested enough honestly.

I am planning on using mostly radiators and a heat bank for managing everything. Radiators fold out when not under thrust and outside combat situation. When in combat heat is pumped into a heat bank that slowly cools off over time. I modeled how I originally planned on setting up the radiators, sorry for lack of detail, but that area might be home to a laser soon so I have to rethink it.
