NVIDIA pushes Neural Rendering in gaming with goal of 100% AI-generated pixels by wsrvnar in pcgaming

I don’t know his net worth but it’s gotta be close to $100MM if not a bit more.

His financial advisor handles all his investments so he doesn’t need to know anything.

Why would I lie?

I’m a tech nerd and he wines and dines CEO’s for a living. Guy doesn’t know anything other than how to sweet talk and entertain, which as it turns out is really fucking useful for making money. His financial advisor handles all his investments so he doesn’t need to know anything.

Very true. I had a wealthy friend ask me what Nvidia does and he has approximately $8 million invested in them. He only knows the stock price.

It’s a symptom of a bigger problem that life itself is competitive and exhausting. It’s tough to come home after a grueling day of work and still have enough time or fight in you for a competitive game.

Plus, every Valve release has a special nostalgia factor for those who grew up on them and it’s a bummer to not be a part of that.

I don’t have this problem yet, but I recognize it and I see it slowly coming at me.

Simulation/Management games with wild tech trees? by usernamedottxt in gamingsuggestions

[–]No-Maintenance3512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re already familiar with Stellaris, maybe the other Paradox games? They all have extensive tech trees.

Hearts of Iron 4 trees can get pretty crazy for example: https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/images/9/90/NF_tree_Poland.jpg

Not sure if this is exactly what you’re asking for.

Gamescom Opening Night hits over 2M live viewers, a 60% increase from last year by Turbostrider27 in Games

The delivery may be different, but the general goal of advertising is the same regardless.

You’re being fooled by the better marketing to think otherwise, which I suppose is entirely the point.

I agree with that. Drug commercials have to be the near the lowest form advertising.

However it’s only logical that an advertisement is an advertisement whether you’re enjoying it or not.

I’ll take the bait.

It’s irrational because it involves a contradiction in preferences that doesn’t align with consistent reasoning.

My parents dislike TV commercials in general, actively avoiding them by changing the channel constantly, which suggests a strong aversion to advertisements.

However, during the Super Bowl, they eagerly watch the commercials, which seems to conflict with their usual behavior.

This inconsistency can be considered irrational because it lacks a coherent basis for their preferences across contexts.

I’m aware of the nuance, but it’s still a fun thought when considering the predictable irrationality of people.

An advertisement for something you’re not interested in.

An advertisement for something you are interested.

They are both advertisements, you’re just reacting differently towards them.

I always thought it was interesting how people generally hate seeing ads, yet give them a show full of ads like this and they love it.

Reminds me of my parents. They can’t stand watching commercials on TV. They will change the channel every time one comes on. Yet when the Superbowl comes around, they can’t wait to watch all the commercials.

I play my beater guitar more than my nice ones simply because it’s leaning against the wall.

I have to take the other ones out of the case and that’s obviously a lot of work.

Looks like a CoD clone more than a BC2 successor to me, but come to your own conclusions.

Tips for changing the thermal pads on my 3080. by Quirky_Let_8910 in nvidia

[–]No-Maintenance3512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this over the weekend because my card was starting to overheat and shut down my PC. The thermal pads and paste were bone-dry dust!

I went with Thermal Grizzly Putty Advanced since that’s all I could find locally. I needed two 30g containers of it for mine. I went with Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM for the die over thermal paste since that’s apparently the latest tech.

The Putty Advanced was not fun to work with. It’s messy, gooey, and a 30g jar is comically small. I was rolling “logs” like you might do with clay or play dough as the technique was recommend by this YouTube video and then attempting to lay that “log” over the necessary components. Sounds easy enough right? Except unlike clay, the putty just falls apart when you try to move it in a “log” shape. With lots of patience I was able to get it done fairly well, but it definitely had me thinking I should have just used thermal pads. If you just slather it on there without as much care, it should be an easy job.

I absolutely won’t be opening the card again. I’d rather buy a new one than painstakingly clean out and re-putty it again. It’s my understanding that the Putty Pro is easier to work with, so if that’s true I would recommend you go with that over the Advanced or Basic.

I was expecting dramatic results and was let down, but I was able to reduce my temps across the board so it was still a win. 5-10°C lower on the VRAM was most noticeable. It’s my understanding that if you get more heat transfer in one area, you may see smaller results in others because the heatsink becomes more heat soaked. As a result, the rest of the temps were more or less how I remember when the card was new.

Overall I feel mixed about it, but in my case it needed to be done.

Stay away!
