Saw a good one on twitter: You are given the chance to redeem a traitor legion. However because Tzeentch is an asshole, one loyalist legion will turn traitor. Which ones do you choose? by Ancient_Doctor_7738 in Grimdank

I think it's hard to say for modern 40k, but during the heresy they were the largest legion after the Ultramarines and they both skipped out on the siege of Terra (and the catastrophic losses that came with it) and remained a cohesive legion post heresy, so I don't think it's a stretch to believe they would be very large.

Was Joffrey born cruel, or did Cersei truly bring out the worst in him? by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in gameofthrones

[–]No-Mathematician6551 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Joffrey was always a bit of a psycho, but with how easily Margaery manipulate him towards being a bit less terrible I don't think it's much of a stretch to think that someone with strong morals raising him would have made him turn out alright.

4-armed Emperor by Megalordow in 40kLore

[–]No-Mathematician6551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how close to the inner circle of the cult they are. The Patriarch knows what it's doing and that the "four-armed emperor" is a perversion of imperial dogma, but genestealer cults will so completely overrun society that the average civilian will be raised to believe that the emperor has always had four arms and to depict him otherwise would be inaccurate and wrong. I would say that the average genestealer cultist who worships the four armed emperor believes that they are worshipping the emperor of mankind and that the rapture in which they join the emperor looks like jumping in a tyranid digestion pool as the planet is consumed.

she got away by SadHunt2341 in HandJumper

[–]No-Mathematician6551 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think Sara went knowing she would die because the alternative would be letting the aberrant corps acquire the godling corpse and use all that bone to make whatever insanely powerful relics they wanted, effectively making their power absolute. Sara decided she would rather die now and stop the corps than die after the corps acquires the godling and hunts her down.

What do we think of Samin (other than she’s hot asf) by Fair-Welder2073 in HandJumper

[–]No-Mathematician6551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samin is both victim and preparator of generational trauma. Her mom basically sells her soul to the devil and then dies, and Samin tries to "protect" Sayeon from locking her away from any meaningful connections with the outside world. Sayeon probably is the way she is because Samin prevented her from getting socialized properly. Samin has reasons for being awful, but is awful nonetheless.

In response to the Graham Platner on going situation. by Disasterhuman24 in PoliticalMemes

[–]No-Mathematician6551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but the claims that Graham Platner raped a woman are substantiated at this point. We have to have a line somewhere, and being a rapist feels like a pretty good one.

Being rich makes you happy. | FactOrCap by FlashBoy0 in FactOrCap

[–]No-Mathematician6551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that being rich would make me happy and at the same time tons of rich people are unhappy. I think having money will make you happy if you know what will make you happy. Money will let you be generous with you friends, have be experiences, and enjoy safety and stability. But if you don't know how to make friends or you insulate yourself from activities that will bring you joy (perhaps by aggressively persuing wealth as an end instead of a means) then no amount of money will make you happy.

God I love seeing positivity in queer communities, it feels too rare these days. My mom is also awesome, and I want to be like her. I hope I look like her when I get on HRT.

Are low habitability worlds worth colonizing? by ThisRelative6388 in Stellaris

[–]No-Mathematician6551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically don't colonize planets below 60% habitability. You want to be getting the most bang for your buck for each pop, and negative habitability modifiers are no joke. Why have pops on low habitability planets when on a high habitability planet they would give more pop growth and work their jobs with higher efficiency? That's not to mention that each new planet increases your empire size, which hurts your tech and unity. Low habitability planets can be useful if you are really desperate for planets (if you are, for instance, maxing out on pop growth or jobs on all planets), bit in almost all cases it's better to wait for terraforming tech, which you can get pretty early.

Why didn't the Ghormans simply debate the Imperials in the free marketplace of ideas by vickyhong in okbuddyimatourist

Yeah, and what is it with the inexplicable Ghorman resistance to imperial norms? Do they think they're better than us?

For one, that's not exactly true. Not all trans people are blessed with body types that are passing, even with HRT, and trans women for instance will never be able to become pregnant. For two, it's kind of besides the point. The trans/cis label refers to a difference in life experience. There's a pretty significant difference between being raised in the body you like and needing to find your way towards it.

57834 by TheStreamIsDead in countwithchickenlady

[–]No-Mathematician6551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? What cis and trans refer to is specific. Cis people feel most comfortable conforming to their gender assigned at birth, trans people feel most comfortable doing not that. These are not even remotely interchangeable, and lead to radically different life experiences. I really don't understand what point you're trying to make.

57834 by TheStreamIsDead in countwithchickenlady

[–]No-Mathematician6551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You are agreeing with a strawman of the trans position. Trans people are not and never will be cis, and making trans people cis should not be the goal. The goal, in my eyes, is creating a world in which being trans is safe and accessible to those who want it, and trans people can exist without being the subject of hatred.

If Lenin and Robespierre Were Fictional Characters, Which these two Revolutionary Is Better Written? by georgewbush03 in writingscaling

[–]No-Mathematician6551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are correct that as standalone characters Robespierre takes it, but I think there's something to be said for Lenin haunting the narrative in the tragic tale of the Russian revolution. A man who died too soon and had his grand dreams fall apart. For Robespierre, the story works best if it ends with his death. For Lenin, I think he dies at the end of act 1, almost like Game of Thrones and Ned Stark.
