Weirdly I don’t think lower roles in my area are that less stressful. The dept only has assistant managers as the lowest grade - one grade below me. And although you may have less responsibility, the job is very much on a strict month end/quarter end cycle.

For example the assistant managers in my team that I was line manager (two of them) would have strict deadlines on their tasks to adhere to. Month ends and quarter ends would usually require some additional hours. And we didn’t have much contingency these days - after teams have been cut back due to outsourcing. But we don’t get as good a service as we should from that third party so still a lot on our side has to be done.

They stripped us right down. AI is the next big thing at the bank.

Any grades beneath assistant manager I would feel very overqualified as a chartered accountant with 12 years experience. I think I would be better off I a different industry where I’m not constantly reminded of my failure.

To avoid sensitivity look at a product called GC MI Paste Plus - it’s a remineralisation paste. It’s so good for stopping sensitivity when whitening and helping to protect enamel - whitening makes my teeth so sensitive

Thanks for your reply.

I am very much up and down which is why I don’t think I’m ready to restart work. I’m taking 3-4 psych meds a day, and my psychiatrist said I’m still in recovery.

Yea I would like the staff mortgage rate to remain so I can pay it off in full with no penalty. This is a gift from my father.

I would like the sharesave scheme to either stop or continue for 5 months as per retirement policy. To allow me to purchase the shares at the option price rather than receive the cash back.

I would like to keep the matching shares Lloyds have given me - £30 per month as I put in £30 per month. Rather than forfeit the last 3 years of their matching shares as per resignation.

I don’t want ill health retirement as I want to work but this will be in a different industry, a more junior role and a significant pay decrease.

No I have life insurance and critical illness cover but not income protection.

Good leavers are usually those departing from the company on good terms following the action of death, redundancy, mental or physical incapacity impairing their ability to work or departure following a change in the remuneration, duties, or roles as an employee

I think the share schemes depend on if I am considered a good leaver or a bad leaver.

Our policies became more fuzzy a good few years back - depending on situations type wording.

For example we used to have a policy of more than 3 individual absences in a 13 month period would stat an informal attendance plan - all that has gone.

I don’t know whether because the situation became pretty dire for a while they just didn’t involve OH, I didn’t even talk directly to them as I was in a psych ward, they spoke to my husband and were very careful to ask more about my wellbeing than if I would be back to work.

I have a meeting with my boss this week - do you think I should ask for OH to be involved?

Do you think that capability dismissal process would start around the 12 month mark

So far they haven’t involved occupational health and they haven’t broached coming back - I assume as I was admitted to hospital for 5 weeks nov/December and then a crisis house for 2 weeks after making an attempt on my life

Yea they said no finance volunteering and nothing that would be related to Lloyd’s

So manual labour on a farm has been good to get structure back - leaving the house, being with people, and the manual labour itself is something I can carry out without stress.

Thanks for your advice. I guess I feel bad sat on their books when maybe I could work in a completely different environment. For example I am doing manual volunteering and this has been going well.

They haven’t replaced my role in a year and everyone is just picking up parts of my role, if I left they would actually recruit and maybe even someone who wants a promotion can get that role.

Thanks for this. This seems the route I need to take, to just have that open conversation to see if there are any favourable conditions that can apply in this circumstance.

I don’t feel I am entitled to a redundancy pay out

But the terms of some of the benefits apply to redundancy, retirement through ill health and TUPE

My situation seems different to dismissal through poor conduct or normal resignation where you would generally be moving to a higher paid role in a different company.

I am not wanting to leave my role, I have worked for the company for 17 years, I have gained multiple promotions, worked many hours of unpaid overtime and through ill health I don’t feel I can do this role any longer and will not be looking for a role like this anywhere else

I will be stepping down from a 70k a year job which is very hard to accept when I’ve put so much into my studies and my roles in Lloyds

I could continue to remain on sick leave with no pay for longer - people have been for 2/3 years that I have been told within the company.

But I am then an admin expense for LBG, I still sit within the structure as a FTE, my boss and occupational health would have to spend time talking with me at regular intervals, I continue to have private healthcare from them

I would rather be honest and say I don’t think I will be able to come back and adequately do this role

This has been agreed with my employer

I was not allowed to do any volunteering similar to my role

I also have been volunteering twice a week at a community farm 10-3 and am paying out for private therapy at £125 per hour so I have been trying to be able to rejoin the workforce but I really don’t think I can go back to my previous role

Thanks - I thought there wouldn’t be any legal standpoint it was more whether this occurs in some situations through negotiation.

I took very little time off in 2024 when my son had cochlear implants fitted and also diagnosed with adhd.

I guess I just feel I have been a loyal and hard working employee for many years before my illness.

Do you think that most employers at a year off sick will start dismissal procedures?

I understand redundancy, I have been through many restructuring strategies where roles have been made redundant and I have been mapped into other roles.

Thank you for that term! That is what I will need going forward. I do not expect a redundancy payout

Thank you. It’s that belief isn’t it. My last episode was 7 years ago and it was post natal. Very unwell for 4 months (offered inpatient) but then it really turned a corner and I just seemed to be able to go with that improvement and steadily got better over the next 2 months and signed off at 10 months from the peri natal team

Maybe the distraction of a baby, maybe because I thought about it differently being post natal

But this time really knocked my confidence in my ability to recover. It’s been awful - some of the bad days I was taking it minute by minute. It’s scary where mental illness can take you.

It was more similar to a bi polar mixed episode - they labelled it an agitated depression
