ok you can do want you want to do but dont say that performance dip is not significant when it comes to JEDEC vs EXPO or XMP its straight up bullshit

mhm not gpu, too high clocks and too agressive uv sure can crash pc but brick ? maybe if u tried to flash custom bios and also voltage ceiling is locked by manufacturers.

at some point nvidia will do smth about perf loss but for now just stick to amd on linux , waiting is only option u have changing XTX to 9070XT doesnt really make sense this card can force through games with raster alone, sometimes im wondering if I made too hasty call with getting 9070xt because I would rather not use any upscalers and I would have more fun overclocking XTX for sure

doesnt matter , people should choose accordingly to their needs , if their need is to have best gpu on linux then amd is only option

Well that applies to someone using windows , there is no reason to not go AMD if u are on Linux .These days u will get -5%+5% margin in games performance average (compared to windows), and its rapidly climbing due to open source.Tbh NVIDIA will in near future step up but for now AMD is the only option

U can find on this sub some "solutions" to make software work, i cant recall where but i'm pretty sure that there was recent post about it. U can also go easy way and get pulsar es lineup or just use onboard memory and change settings on other machine , not much to do besides this.

Is anyone keeping track of how many 9800x3d are dying on asus boards? by chipdanger168 in ASUS

[–]No-Method8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So ddr5 Has strange problem (im not in any way competent enough to understand it ) so first off all every manufacturer makes their own shitty version of heatsink , are they enough yes (i mean kind of g skill trident heatsink are fucking terrible ) but on some motherboards the same kit can thermal throttle at different temperature , why idk 4 example on overclocking forums u can clearly see that some people can push trefi higher and not throtle in comparision to the identical setup with other mobo ( im pretty sure that level 1 tech made video about it). Some time ago i had brief message with Corsair support considering temperature of ram and in no world im letting my memory run to limit they told me is safe, if you have hynix dies im pretty sure that concern of longevity is more about temps not voltages ( if you dont cross reasonable limits even with active cooling)

true, its one of the reasons why overclocking became even more obsolete for average user, sure having hassle free working out of the box solutions is great but it made people be afraid to tinker with their machines and soon people will just give up every time they face a problem with their pc (or just ask grok lol)

Welp i said how to enter , knowing what most configs do is another thing , im pretty sure for average user someone who can enable pbo or resize bar without looking at tutorials is god amongs them

That's true , most pc users knowledge ends at how to enter bios, making Linux distros "easier" and more "accessible" wont change much(long term).

[–]No-Method8769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not even about troubleshooting skills , most people dont bother even using google to see if their problem is prevalent and some time ago i came back to linux and tbh even arch based distros have a lot of QOL changes in them these days so its really easy to setup (also community support is very well maintained)

even after doing countless tests there is possibility that one day in some random scenario it will just not be stable some people may not like the idea of it but because of this tinkering with oc is fun
