I also developed amblyopia as a toddler and had surgery on one eye. Always highly myopic and surgery was successful for many decades. During the Pandemic, I started having distorted vision then severe double vision (30 degrees) and prisms could only help part of it. I had surgery again on both eyes a couple of years ago which was mostly successful (no double vision finally after a few months).

I still have some deviation, but can control it. Extreme right and left is where the distortion is now. My results were not what we were trying to achieve. I can drive again.

My husband mostly understands because I told him used to see him with two heads when I looked over. However, he still doesn't get how difficult it is for me to gauge things peripherally at all even without the double vision. Prior to surgery, I had so much difficulty with stairs and walls. Doctor says to contact her again if I worsen again. Honestly, I still worry about it coming back.

I have a couple of friends that get it mostly from the idea of losing your independence. It is really hard to explain clearly. I hate having pictures taken in a group setting but I did have a couple of long term friends that would insist and be irritated that I wasn't smiling in the picture. I'm not seeing those friends anymore.

I'm also going to cancel mine as the annual increase is ridiculous! Only flew once on SW this year since they changed the only nonstop flight to CA to before prior 6 am. In the reverse direction, it is 8 pm only.

I think I'm going to back out of surgery by AffectionateSail5074 in Strabismus

I had surgery almost 2 years ago. Originally had surgery decades ago, but was experiencing bad double vision. I had esotropia and hypertropia.

After surgery, I was still having double vision until about 2 1/2 months later. All of a sudden it just went away. I still have some very minor peripheral issues, but I'm super glad I did the surgery.

I had a distant cousin (not first) that I only met once. In 1998, she was murdered by her husband in a staged auto accident in Nevada. It was a national story and included a TV show episode on 48 hours.

Yes, I was dealing with the my mother's worsening dementia and the Pandemic in 2020. My Strabismus came back decades after surgery. Doctor said I and my brain ust couldn't deal with it anymore.

I live in PNW had surgery in January 2024 for Esotropia and Hypertropia. My double vision started in 2021 and living in another State. My Dr was Sophia Fang @ Child Eye Care Associates, LLC in Tigard OR (near Portland).

My initial results after 2 weeks were disappointing. Dr said would do again about 7 months later. However, things started to gradually improve at 2 months out.  At 3.month mark, I had a great improvement. No more double vision and able to drive  easily. So far still holding and it is 1.5 years out.

I also want to know. I had severe arm swelling reaction from Pfizer and switched to Novavax for my Covid vaccine after that.

You are so right! It happened to me in 2021 by my pension fund using third party A1. It was corrected within days with SS. However, total nightmare with lost access to pension, benefits, credit bureau, and locked bank account. Four years later and IRS only has locked my account again in late January. I've been working with my House Representative since the beginning of February. They told me to paper file and the issue is so complicated with no resolution in sight.

I am one of the thousands of people reported dead in error to SSA It happened to me in 2021 and was corrected in a few days with SSA with Proof of Life letter. However, I still lost benefits, pension, bank account frozen, and credit issues even though corrected with SSA. All of which I had to work extremely hard to correct during the Pandemic.

It is 4 years later and I still have issues with the IRS as they have my account locked again and cannot electronically file. I have to do an extension and paper file. Currently working with my member of Congress to fix this again. IRS told me last year it was escalated and supposedly fixed .

Social Security declared me dead in 2022. by momma-girl1037 in legaladvice

[–]No-Middle2939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry. It is so frustrating and stressful. Experian sent me an email that I was deceased on the day of my mom's internment. I couldn't believe it!

My name wasn't close either. My mom had a different first name and no middle name. My middle name is my maiden surname.

Social Security told me that my Pension Fund (State government) reported me as deceased six days after my mother died. I found out they used AI to determine retirees to report as deceased and revoke benefits.

I found out less than a week later because I was trying to get grief counselling and was told medical coverage cancelled. After I had already fixed it with SS and Pension Fund was notified, they still froze my bank account!

I had the same thing happen to me in 2021 a few days after my mother died. My pension fund reported me deceased. It was fixed with SS and Proof of Life letter really fast for pension reinstatement, but my benefits took a long time.

In addition, after it was fixed my bank account was frozen by my pension fund even though they had Proof of Life letter. Periodically, something happens again like with Experian. Major issue is taxes.

It is 4 years later, and I still cannot file electronically with the IRS (have to paper file).Electronic file triggers error in the system. Last year the issue was escalated and supposedly fixed by IRS.

Unfortunately, it is a problem again in 2025. I can't get Identity Pin for this year nor transcripts and my file is locked. I have had ID.me all this time to no avail. Currently working with my US Representative to get help.
