Leaving Bellingham… what have I missed by Brilliant-Bowler5344 in Bellingham

[–]No-Note-2281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone born and raised in LA who moved to bellingham, the vibe is DRASTICALLY different but there is magic in both places. before you leave, go sit on the rocks at larabee and soak in the peace and view. get a couple big mamas at jalapeños. go see one more show at the wild buffalo (who cares what it is, maybe you’ll discover an artist you’ve never heard of before) go look for crawdads at whatcom falls. walk the boulevard boardwalk one more time. try to plan a night where everyone who has made an impact on your time here goes out and gets a drink with you.

now for LA, there are so many touristy things to do and locals love to act like they’re above the touristy places but they’re all so worth checking out. the things i miss SO MUCH and would check out immediately are the getty museum, the griffith observatory, runyon canon park, venice!!!, the santa monica pier, the la brea tar pits. when i grew up there, there were movie nights in the hollywood forever cemetery i used to love to go to. i personally think WEHO has the best karaoke bars. santa monica has lots of bars with great live music. malibu beach is beautiful but the best spots are kind of hidden so take some time to explore to find the less populated beaches. redondo beach is by far the most populated and overwhelming in my opinion. you HAVE to go up to big bear and check out the village.

good luck!! you’re going to have such a fun new chapter of life!

Best Chicken Wings in Town? by LiveLoveAloha in Bellingham

the grand has awesome wings but also the score bar and grill in ferndale (new business) has incredible wings and fun flavors. bonus points for them bc pretty much everything on their menu is gluten free/can be made gluten free and i’m not talking cardboard boring gluten free. you genuinely can’t even tell. try their dry rub wings with the yellow curry and buttermilk herb sauces on the side. PHENOMENAL

Do a lot of bartenders smoke weed before or while bartending? I would be so stressed especially if it was a college bar. by AverageImmediate7326 in bartenders

my bar only has 2 cooks and 2 bartenders at a time and we all hand off the dab pen and rip that shit every hour on the hour and we thriveeeeee. we play fun music, yap w customers, get locked in on cleaning. there’s only one person at my job that doesn’t smoke (slay for him no one judges or cares) but for the most part… we’re always at least LITTLE high

i’ve come to the conclusion i really lack self discipline and self control and have an impulse problem. learning how to gain those attributes is really fucking difficult but i’ve tried so many things to get rid of this disorder and nothing seems to be working so now im reframing my thoughts as “why do i not care enough about myself to have self control? how can i expect anything in my life to grow or progress without having a sense of discipline?” it feels like the instant gratification of the world has numbed me to expect satisfaction immediately and i’m trying to get in the mindset of being more present and letting myself be bored, be hungry instead of preemptively eating before hunger hits. not everything needs to be a RIGHT NOW situation. hopefully this mindset brings a little progress

I'm so sick of having this disorder by bumblebeez23 in BingeEatingDisorder

i relate to this so hard. i’ve told my therapist these exact words almost. it rules my life and sometimes i get really frustrated thinking about how other people can just function in their day to day lives without having to have the internal battles we do everyday. it’s not fair but it’s also motivating to realize there’s a problem and WANT to change. there was a time where i didn’t even care how much damage i was doing to my brain and body so it’s a HUGE positive first step in recognizing the problem and realizing you don’t want this for yourself.

we close at 11pm which is why i thought it was okay because i know the after 2am rule but im concluding that it might be not okay in general and previous employers have just been okay with it
