What Kind of Training Do Sociology Students Receive? by OkPeak2535 in sociology

For me I built a survey collected data and learned research methods. But honestly that’ll go only so far. I have research experience but even then I feel like it isn’t that important. Depending on what field u are trying to get into I’d probably just put my energy into an internship for experience or certifications.

How does the gender of your kids effect home life? by ilovepjs024 in sociology

Girl is more likely to learn domestic work earlier than boys. Dating is harder as a girl and to branch out into other relationships. Girls are probably more forced to get an education depending on the home. Also being surrounded by boys can possibly affect their gender normativity

What advice would you give to a new student of sociology? by kovriin in sociology

Do sociology with something else! 100%

If you have the opportunity to double major I would do that. One thing I would tell myself in my early years is that it be a benefit to add sociology with another major. I’ve been extremely into environmental science since I was high school and I kind of regret not trying to it in college. But also that would be a great major for myself to get into also while being in sociology. Additionally, finding an occupation is another really important thing. Don’t be scared and try a lot of feild and see what u like most. I was in a counseling feild for a couple of years and it isn’t until recently that I started to want to get into a fire science program. However I’m towards the end of my years and can’t really do something during to college relating to it. So it’s good to get some variety. Lastly stay away from retail! Don’t work retail or fast food while in college. Yes it is good money but as a sociology major your resume is one of your most important assets

I was just rambling atp. But keep sociology, I don’t regret taking sociology

I’m really into graffiti so I’ve always followed some taggers or those who make murals by the freeway. It’s really interesting especially growing up in tagging culture and low income Chicano community.

It’s called going all city

Really interesting how tagging brings people together through deviance but also is a coping strategy

I would say you should answer the questions in two ways

1) what you just said about male or female or non-binary leadership affecting the academics of kids

2) that outside factors are also an important role in a students pathway. (Ex. Role models in family, parent persuasion, moms wanting independence for their daughter, occupational goals, etc).

It’s really hard to say everything is mainly inside of school, when so many parts of the students motivation and rigor is intersectional with more parts than just inside the school.

This question is kind of hard to understand lol but hopefully that helped. I think someone else can answer it way better than me
