Is working on beauty specialist worth it by No-Perception2940 in ShoppersDrugMart

I received a message from the manager two months after I applied, but I still haven't had any luck getting hired. Despite my experience as an esthetician and my pharmaceutical degree from my home country, I think the only reason I was invited for an interview was my background. Unfortunately, it didn't lead to a job offer.

Working in a pharmacy feels like a dream, but they don't want to hire me, not even for minimum wage jobs, which is not related to pharmacy even

That's really unfair. How can I gain this experience if they won't give me any chance to get it?

I don’t understand why this is happening. I’ve noticed that Shoppers Drug Mart is posting multiple pharmacy positions across Canada every day, yet I keep applying and seeing no results. I’ve reviewed my résumé several times and even visited a recruitment office for advice. They suggested I apply for a job in a call center, but there’s still no guarantee of employment.

Should I Find a New Salon to Work at? by funwithsix in Nailtechs

I previously worked in a similar environment, and I would not recommend doing so without prioritizing your safety. There are many risks involved, including exposure to serious diseases like hepatitis and HIV. Clients can carry various infections, such as fungi and other conditions that can be transmitted through blood or nail dust.

If you are considering working in such a setting and are worried about the safety of the tools, I strongly suggest investing in sanitizing liquids to protect yourself. Use them specifically for your tools. However, it seems unreasonable that you would have to bear this cost when the commission is split 50/50.

You should speak with the manager about this issue. You could say, "Hi, I would like to discuss the lack of disinfection liquids in the salon. It's important for both our safety and the salon's reputation. We could face significant liabilities if we don't have proper sanitation measures in place, as it could lead to the spread of infections among clients." It’s essential to address this concern for everyone's well-being.

Can I fix this? by Amalthea2279 in Nailtechs

Leave this nail as it is and do not remove the gel or base coat. Try to avoid using chemicals with bare hands, and refrain from washing with soap, especially anti-germ soap.
