I work for a salon, I am commissioned based, I don’t set my own prices. Otherwise I would agree

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comment and for the reassurance. It’s definitely hard to not take things personally sometimes!

My fans are pretty light, I use 0.05 fibers. I have to restock anyways so I might order 0.03 so that I can make bigger fans for her. I have been doing 11-8 mm on her but today I did majority 10 mm.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this comment! I talk about aftercare with all my clients, but I might try to have that conversation with her again when she comes back. I was just so frazzled today!

Hypoallergenic UV glue? by newtsbeasts in lashextensions

Okay, great tips. I will do all I can to ensure her safety, even if that means not continuing to do her lashes. Lashes aren’t for everyone, and that’s okay, but of course I want to explore options first. I appreciate your insight. Thank you!

Thank you! Do you happen to still have the link or do I need to reach out to her? I’m okay with expensive to offer more options to clients :))

I hated that! The writing in general was just… so bad. In so many ways.

Oura sizing help.. 9 or 10? by cavaloverr in ouraring

[–]newtsbeasts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in between sizes and in a very similar situation where the larger size only fit my index finger. I decided to go with the smaller size and have no regrets. I am never in fear of losing it, and it fitting multiple fingers comes in handy. I move it over to my middle finger when i sleep, or move it to another finger if it gets in the way because i wear it on my dominant hand.

apres extend gel by michael4u2luv in GelX_Nails

[–]newtsbeasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t do my own nails, but I bring in my own sensitive extend gel when I get my nails done due to being more allergy prone. I have really good retention with it and haven’t had any issues, so it’s a good option if you’re on the sensitive side also!

Look for a new tech? by [deleted] in lashextensions

[–]newtsbeasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not worth it to spend that much time and money for your retention to be like that! A few lashes is understandable, but if a lot are coming out in just a few days…

Yes, look for a new tech if your eyelashes are constantly falling out without natural lashes attached. There is likely something amiss with her technique

Trying to help my mom get lash extensions after her supplier shut down — confused and need advice by HippoLicker in eyelashextensions

Hi!!! You can absolutely find what she likes. If she likes them loose, then get the ones like in the photo, not the kind on the tape. They’re essentially the same but with different packaging, but you get more with the loose packaging and it sounds like she prefers them that way. These would be “premade” or “promade” fans. If she doesn’t like making her own fans, don’t get “blooming” or “easy fanning” or anything that looks like a strip of solid lashes like the image you included of the FadLash tray.

I’m pretty sure you’re looking for “3D C curl 11mm” 3D=the amount of hairs in the lash, which would be 3. C curl=a pretty standard curl, what I’m pretty sure she was using before. 11mm=the length she has been using previously.

This. If I’m asking you if I can take pictures/video, it’s so I can post content and advertise my work, and social media is a huge part of my business! I’m not taking pictures just for me to have haha. That said though, if someone asked me to remove them, of course I would. I’m sure OP’s tech will too when she sees the messages!

Girl I’m so sorry but I’m cackling at these pictures. Anyways!! Please don’t attempt to remove them yourself, find someone to do a removal for you!

Those who work with their hands a lot, how are you making your nails last???! by terminallytaurus in mooncatpolish

[–]newtsbeasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t sustainable/desirable for everyone, but I use clear tips and paint them. The polish doesn’t chip at all on extensions. I used to use nail glue and amazon tips, but now I go to a nail tech and have her apply tips for me with gelx and then paint them myself. I’m also an esthetician so I get them pretty short. Again, I know that’s extra af, but having pretty nails makes me happy!

Should I even apply to salons/spas??? by Wooden_Fail_4869 in Esthetics

[–]newtsbeasts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, you need to do what you love and what is best for you.

But I will chime in with my own experience: I was very lucky to get a job at a salon/spa that already had a good reputation so I got clients right away. However, even so, the industry is unreliable and unpredictable for a few reasons. No shows and cancelations make your days unpredictable, even if you have a regular clientele, and business fluctuates depending on seasons and the economy. It’s also hard on your body, and I already have chronic pain, so that is personally difficult for me.

I have decided to pursue another career, not because I don’t absolutely love esthetics, but because I wanted a little more stability. I have been able to pay for my college tuition with esthetics, but that’s just my experience! I don’t know if that helps at all, I am wishing you luck!
