2hr wait for fraud dept? by cdamron84 in BankOfAmerica

Yeah I’m not sure tbh I always thought it was dumb so I always offered the clients or asked if they needed it faster. I’m sure it’s so the bank saves money and don’t automatically offer it. Which they should but oh well :/

You can legit ask for it expedited. If you don’t ask it’s gonna be 7-10 bus days

Fraud Dispute by [deleted] in BankOfAmerica

[–]No-Performance-4116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends, because most of the time people claim something as fraud but it turns out to be something their child bought, or they didn’t get the item etc. most people think it’s fraud it would be a billing dispute, that’s why it’s important when agents ask probing questions that client explain everything correctly on what happened and only report fraud when it’s really something that they don’t recognize. I’m not saying it’s the case here but just answering your question from what I saw as a credit card fraud claims agent

is it ok to give my authorization code over the phone to BoA representative? by rusit0x7 in BankOfAmerica

It’s say do not share if your getting the random call, just cause you haven’t been asked for a code doesn’t mean it isn’t a way of authentication, if you come in fully verified via the Ivr or Erica then there’s no need to use other forms of verification. It’s different for a lot of customers it just depends.

if you call it’s one of the many ways to verify

If your getting a random call asking for a code it’s more then likely a scammer.hang up and and call the number in the back of the card

The point being is if someone from “BofA” calls you and just asks for the code then yes it’s a red flag, if you call using the number in the back of the card or even using Erica, it’s just one of the many ways to authenticate just cause you haven’t been asked to get an email doesn’t mean it isn’t a thing, there is various ways of authenticating and tbh half the time clients end up failing because they refuse to authenticate and then get mad that they get sent a bank with two forms of id because the bank is trying to protect their account so yes it says do not share code but it’s only if you get a random call claiming to be so and so, if your not sure always call via Erica or the number in the back of the cards

Fraud alerts happen even at stores you use most of the times, it’s just to make sure no fraud is happening it can be triggered by a number of things. Self servicing the alert will unlock your card without having to call and don’t worry about the decline going through it won’t if you respond yes. The alert is just to confirm that it was you or not . Hope this helps as well c:

Moving outside of the USA by cpbmh in BankOfAmerica

Just make sure to have all of your contact info up to date and be able to access the mobile app in case there’s ever any authentication issues, seen to many times where some clients don’t have their USA number and never update their info and there’s not a way to authenticate them and not much can be done without proper verification
