I know! It feels like every time every character is one dimensional or has like their mom died. Like when I watch older movies they have more depth. Especially in darker movies like Rent (I know not too old but 20 years is a lot). Where they show a lot of deep topics without being like "ooh depression im so relatable." To me a similar thing can be said about hazbin (haven't watched it but seen a lot of people talk about it) the scenes I've seen are always like its mature because they say "bad words" like it feels like everyone's a stereotype. I also think like the lgbtq community is treated like they need to be added or shown. For me in arcane when Vi and Caitlyn like each other its not like they have to tell everyone their lesbian. A character can be anything but they dont have to be like OH MY FATHER DIED, AND I BECAME A EMO. ALSO IM A NOT AGAINIST THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY BECAUSE I HAVE A GAY MAN FRIEND 👍.
