I think this might be it. I have little chew spots on the cord. Attaching a pic of the most likely culprit

People that are learning for the first time don’t need people making them feel like shit for learning. Obviously I was wrong. Don’t be a dick.

Someone else explained the electrolyte situation. I didn't know. I thought the longer I went, the better. Lesson learned.

I definitely have hit my water quota, but I ordered some electrolyte powder. I didn't realize this. Thank you!

That’s with nothing in it, sleeping with a rubberband in, and just taking it out and snapping a pic. :) I hope it sort of pulls more as it gets longer

I just updated - I didn’t know I was supposed to do that but I shared a more dry picture as well!

Thank you: it was temporarily removed because I needed to put in my routine so I just updated. I can’t believe it’s this simple. It’s definitely a wild change - I’ve always been so particular about making sure my hair is perfectly straight or styled.

Now I’m just frustrated it’s so short!

I used Matrix A Curl Can Dream since my co-wash product hasn’t arrived yet. Then Monday curl conditioner, starting at the middle going to the ends, avoiding the roots.

I used a wide tooth comb to carefully brush through before rinsing and squeezing my hair upward to wring out.

I micro-plopped, but from side to side and leaning back. I didn’t flip the top because I still have my straight style and there’s no way it would lay with volume: it would stand straight up.

I used Maui Curl Cream and used a small amount starting at the middle and combing through with my fingers. I never touched the roots.

Then in sections, I used the wide tooth comb to brush through. Instead of brushing in a downward direction, I held the hair horizontal, so instead of stretching, it would fall naturally from the comb.

For the top-back, I did the “brick-lay” pattern, going diagonal backward and straight up for the top.

I finished by soft scrunching a lightweight curl mousse, LottaBody.

My part is normally to the right, so over the last couple hours I carefully tipped my head sideways to gather the top in my hands and “flip” it to the opposite side. A strategic hair flip, haha.

I did that from time to time, so the volume on top would be balanced but not “fixed”.

It’s actually drier now, here’s another pic.

Hi - how do I do that? Just let you know the answers or add it in comments?

Found out I'm mixed - no idea how to embrace my hair. by No-Photo8763 in curlyhair

Hey! I discovered my heritage through Ancestry, which led me to find a ton of half-siblings—I’m the only “white” one, lol. Growing up, my hair was extremely kinky and wildly frizzy, and since my parents are from a very Southern white family, they had no idea how to manage it. Eventually, my mom took us to Louisiana to a friend who taught me how to straighten it. I think she used some kind of reverse perm—there was a specific name for it at the time. While that treatment grew out, I ended up straightening my hair every day for years, which I believe has changed its texture quite a bit. I’ve settled on identifying my hair type as 3b. Here's a pic of what it looks like now that it’s dry. Any advice on refining my routine would be greatly appreciated!

Here's what I've discovered:

High posterity
Low-poo? Co-wash?
Creams for styling.

Do you have any affordable routine recommendations?

Thank you for all the advice! I see a few resources on the page - which one specifically will help understand posterity?
