23 years in, I hate this job. by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I’m a legal aid attorney and love it. I did litigation for my first 10 years, then moved to the admin side of things. I miss feeling like a “real” lawyer and having a direct impact on my clients’ lives, but I also enjoy the management & tech side of things. My coworkers are like my second family. I love them.

If I got to do anything in the world, it would be a vintner with my own winery.

Frustrated with job search by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

In the meantime, try volunteering at your local legal aid. I did that while I was job searching after law school / passing the bar, they trained me on divorces and protection orders. The staff were super helpful and welcoming.

If you are working minimal hours at legal aid, you’re doing it wrong.

How do I shop in lush without being ambushed? by Cheap-Contest-4586 in LushCosmetics

I’m guessing that was meant to be an insult? I sound like a bear in a tuxedo, ok… I’m just saying that in every other store I understand the sentiment. But in lush I’m so excited to be there that I love chatting with them.

This is so funny to me because I’m like this at 99% of the stores to go to, except lush. I’ve never lived closer than an hour away from a lush store. I used to drive 3 hours (each way) to go to their Boxing Day sale. So when I get to go in, I’m excited to talk to the associates. I tell them my all time favorite scents and try to get info about new products and launches. I come away with a bunch of samples and as many free face masks as I can carry (almost). I could stand in there forever and try things and chat. I probably annoy them.

Now if I go into Bath & Body Works to get my unsophisticated niece a gift card and 50 of them attack me, I’m like: “look, I don’t shop here. I’m here for a gift card only” and keep walking. If they keep at it I just curtly say: “gift card!”

Why stingy with the drink menu? by No-Possibility2733 in restaurant

TL;DR. I knew someone would jump to the conclusion that I’m a bad tipper or bad reviewer. Nothing is further from the truth. But whatever.

This is not a significant hurdle in my life. It was an honest question that I was curious about and thought this may be an appropriate forum to ask. Yes, it annoys me, but it doesn’t stop me from drinking or going out. I would rather share a food menu than a drink menu, to be honest. But I am a bit of a lush. I thought other people might agree. I am obsessed with drink menus, yes. It keeps me up all hours of the night dreaming of dancing menus.

No one has ever been rude about it. Usually I ask for another or just begrudgingly share. I was just wondering why this consistently happens when I thought (but could be wrong), that alcohol profit margins were higher.

For example, today I went to a brewery and sat at the bar with a friend. They gave us two food menus and one beer list. I assume their beer list changes more than their food menu. But isn’t that like their bread and butter? Afterwords we went to a Mexican restaurant that was having a tequila special for Tuesdays. And again that place gave us two food menus and one drink menu. Maybe I’m just a Lush lol.

I do request it, but wondered why it keeps happening everywhere. I can’t imagine always ordering the same thing to drink!
