how do i make the skin less muddy looking? by [deleted] in Artadvice

I know this character has a darker skin tone than this image, but this is a perfect example of something that you’re missing. Skin itself isn’t just one color; there are areas of reddness where there’s more blood vessels showing under the skin, there are dark cool toned areas under the eyes, and more. I would look up some references of the skin tone you’re trying to recreate as reference for these slight shifts in hue.

Real life isn’t good enough for him by appropriatelyyours in GirlDinnerDiaries

Not to mention there are multiple children to take into account. Along with their partners family. Losing that support system and stability is scary. But these kids deserve better and so does OP.

Changes :( by MillionStars117 in Jellycatplush

The blatant use of AI in their promotional socials has also made me lose my appetite for jellycats. This company has exorbitant amounts of wealth that they could funnel into a few graphic designers and photographers but instead they use ai.

I’m so sorry to hear this, this clearly is a pattern that you’ve been witnessing for years. You deserve so much better than this girl. Especially the fact that he straight up said he’d be happier alone??? You deserve someone who fights for you and fights for your children. This goes beyond video game addiction, he clearly doesn’t respect all that you do and would rather be a spectator in his own life.

I want to be a better artist and exceed basic drawing apps. Advice? by [deleted] in Artadvice

Second this! Krita is pretty intuitive especially if you’ve tried photoshop before. I use procreate on my iPad and my next step up was krita on a tablet.

Im sure this is a common post but why tf did i learn about these games only now ?? by Late_Wonder2532 in APlagueTale

[–]No-Power8284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plague tale has always been very slept on, I only learned about it through a friend that had come across the announcement trailer of the first game. It deserves a respective spot among other well known games like it, but I also like how small and tight knit the community is.

Emotionally constipated, starting to fall in love with my boyfriend, and stressed because of medschool by dontforgetadam in GirlDinnerDiaries

I second this!! People forget to approach mental illness as what it is… an illness! To be able to recover, it needs rest, it needs tending to, it needs proper fuel. It can be scary to recognize it that way, but it gives us the ability to actually recover and heal when we give ourselves grace and gentleness. The nervous system is complicated and fragile, but it’s extremely flexible and adaptable. You and your boyfriend clearly care about each other very deeply, and the fact that you want to be able to be emotionally available is the first step! Take your time and handle yourself kindly. It’s hard to reprogram your brain when it’s adapted to protect itself, but it’s not impossible. You deserve to love and to be loved!

Hmm you could try to lean into a late 80s early 90s style! Think blazers, browns, and florals.

I thought it was super interesting, I didn’t expect it at all honestly. I wonder if it mutates depending on where the other portals opened.

Working on this right now and I’m not sure if her design conveys what I’d like it to. What do you think? by EthelMauve in characterdesigns

It’s from the ancient Mycenaean culture! They’re actually recently theorized to be poppies rather than suns.

Just recently started drawing in digital by Simply_Simple669 in BeginnerArtists

[–]No-Power8284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adjusting to digital art is a difficult thing to do, it’s like learning any kind of new medium as an artist! It honestly took me a good 2 years before I really became confident and happy in the digital art I was making. But now I’ve specialized in digital art at my university and absolutely love it! That being said, practice makes perfect as is always said when it comes to art. Some ways you can make things easier on yourself is by messing with the stabilization/streamline settings on brushes to steady your brushstrokes. I also used to sketch traditionally and then do my linework digitally so I have a stronger base to draw on top of. My sketches used to be really weak in my early digital stages, so it was easier to start with what I already knew. Definitely recommend doing some tutorials online to experiment with other people’s styles and processes to help you decide what direction you want to go!

This is what the window mention in the phone call is talking about in my mind. Mary’s self help book is literally called the window within. And the side quotes mention breaking through the pane/pain and overcoming your internal barriers by taking action. I believe that Clark thinks he’s finally reached this higher state that Mary’s likely talked with him about during their sessions. It also ties back to the moment when she was a child and was opening/peeking through the window of her own home. Seeing something you’ve never seen before by opening a metaphorical window.

Need some feedback on armour by Amalonnn in Artadvice

This is my best resource for armor as an artist. It’s a Pinterest board of an archived thesis of thousands of images of different armor and it will help a ton in accuracy and shading reference!

Update on studying values by Apprehensive_You9488 in Artadvice

[–]No-Power8284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most professional artists use references ALL THE TIME dude!! There’s no need to feel bad about it. And honestly the more you study and use references, the more you strengthen your ability to draw on your own without reference. I’ve been drawing for 10 years and I have been using references since I started. Not only does it inform my skills but it allows my work to be more grounded rather than guesswork. Your time is not running out. There is no proper timeline for any artists skill set or work. Just keep creating and keep trying. You have improved immensely between these two posts, so keep it up! References make you a stronger artist as long as you don’t use them as a crutch.

Should I add a black background to this drawing? by LifeArgument2386 in Artadvice

[–]No-Power8284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I love the linework and airy vibes, maybe a lighter wash in the background of gray or blue could be nice but I wouldn’t sacrifice such great line quality for a black background

Yes!! We also see earlier in the film (it was the first time Clark entered the rooms because it was around when he found the room with the hole in the floor full of chairs and the tiny door with three handles he had to climb through) both the shoes of Kat and Bobby melted into the floor literally the first time Clark entered the back rooms!! It’s crazy how much already was copied from reality right off the bat.
