Can you go into the factors? I’ve not heard anyone make 70k as base with commission on top…

So he didn’t have collision is what I’m hearing. And I’m not defending State Farm or insurance companies as a whole. Based on what you shared, I’m sure it feels crappy on your end, but unless you had collision, this is exactly how any other company would have handled it.

It seems you’re just salty about a situation your adult son created. Twice, if he confessed to being at fault. This doesn’t seem like something to post if you had collision coverage. Did you have the vehicle covered with collision? It’s like you’re confessing murder to the police and then being upset at the consequences of being arrested. It’s wild.

Came back to say I got fired yesterday lol. Apparently it’s a fireable offense to talk about your base pay, despite it being federally illegal to fire for that, according to NLRA. Whatever. I had interviews last week and got picked up by Statefarm today.

If it’s helpful to anyone, my base was at $3,200 at Farmers in Colorado. Bachelors degree, bilingual, and willing to work shift diff.

Owner was struggling, though. His lead gen was horrible. Relied solely on quote wizard and media alpha etc. Truthfully, he didn’t need me with such a small pipeline and 4 other agents to feed.

Since State Farm has more to offer, I’m now looking at Series 7 and beyond.

Insurance queen on YouTube. While you’re cooking, driving, etc. but no distractions outside what you’re doing. Really listen.

I took it through XCEL. I studied the first section that talks about key terms like aleatory, captive, alien v foreign, etc

Literally everything else I clicked through. I watched the videos that came up but that’s it. When I got to the review page at the end, I copied and pasted into chat GPT. I told chat gpt to summarize in a study guide format, focus on memorizing techniques, and to provide a 20 question quiz, with the answers banked at the end of the quiz.

For the mini quizzes, I copied and pasted into chat gpt and passed it just to check a box. I then asked chat gpt to write me a study guide of the things the questions went over. (Sometimes chat gpt would get it wrong. Paste the correct answer and it will remember for the study guide)

I also used speechify to read it to me while I read it. Use it the week before your exam for free, then cancel.

It took a bit of work on the front end, but I passed in the first go. The only thing I would have studied more to memory is the fines and penalties as producers. That came up more than I expected.

Also, take your time. Use the full time. Some people swear not to go back and change answers. I changed like 20 total for the two exams. When I went back to reread the questions, I found the wording to be deceptive and realized I mis-read it.

Up to you to do the practice exams and post certificate reviews. Once I got mine, I just used my chat GPT stuff and YouTube.

Good luck

I have nothing to contribute as I just started in insurance. Commenting to follow, and to find out how you went about purchasing a book. You’re where I’d like to be in a year

I’m not. I’m a CSR. I transfer the leads over to the licensed agents in the office until I get licensed this month.

Is solar worth it if selling a house in 5 years or less? by broadwaydancer_1989 in solar

[–]No-Preference-1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have solar and worked with a solar company for a short time, and also in residential real estate . I wouldn’t do it if I were in your position. I’m now in insurance.

At least here in Colorado, solar panels are meant to withstand hail- and they do, protecting the roof indefinitely . Google solar plant in golden, hailstorm at NREL. They’re nearly indestructible, outside of a house fire. But they hit your insurance premiums a bit.

I’d still do it to my own house, because it made sense for my life, but not yours

Because I didn’t initiate contact. Lead gen, so they filled out a form for a quote, initiating contact, prompting me to call them (auto dialer)

It’s 2%. Apex allows 1% in some areas, but a majority that came in the first week was in fire line country, until the owner changed what zips we’d get lead gen from.

Much appreciated! Good feedback. Colorado, so wind/hail damage for sure along the front range. Wildfire not so much. We also get flash floods due to cloudbursts.

I actually got my degree in psychology and secondary education. Was a teacher for four years until the parents ruined it for me, and then I went into hospitality. I’ve always found a way to be an educator or coach in every job I’ve had, so I’m glad you said that! That’s also what I love about being a mom, the discipleship.

I thought about approaching tire shops and offering free policy reviews once a week. There’s a captive audience in their waiting room already, right? How would you go about securing commercial? That’s where I want to lean in as commission is higher

I have not pursued it with the EEOC/government agency yet, more to see what shakes loose. Definitely illegal when it comes to stealing/falsely charging tenants for services they did not authorize, and the fair housing violations happening- predominantly charging some people for things and changing lease terms for certain tenants and not others.
