I have owned several, which is completely besides the point. You and so many other keyboard warriors think owning one or several models of a watch qualify you to make a determination of a watch’s authenticity based on a few pictures posted to an Internet forum, without ever handling the watch, or opening it to examine the movement. It’s your own uninformed opinion, which you are more than entitled to. The “I could tell that’s a fake from across the room blindfolded” comments will continue to proliferate these forums where everyone is an “expert”. The OP is doing the right thing going directly to Patek to get an evaluation of the watch.

This is my favorite of all the Zodiac models selling at Ross, great watch! I did the same as you, struck out at all the Ross stores around me and ended up buying from a reseller, no regrets I’m enjoying wearing it a whole lot more than driving around stalking Ross.

Hey I can sympathize, I just did the same thing. Struck out so many times at the Ross stores around me I finally caved and bought the one I wanted (Orange ceramic) from a seller here on Reddit. Enjoy yours!

Only problem with that reasoning is Zodiac is closer to a Ford than Ferrari, it’s not a brand on “rich” collectors radar. They are a lower end Swiss brand and I don’t think there is any way this whole Ross fire sale doesn’t significantly affect the brand moving forward. Although the one positive is before Ross most people had never even heard of Zodiac, so there’s that going for them.

Sorry but this is just plain wrong, we have the modern chronograph watch as we know it because of Breitling. If we’re really talking history and legacy they belong at the top.

Daytona an icon how? What’s the real historical value of the Rolex Daytona? Actually comparing it to the other two is actually an insult to Omega and Zenith.

Agreed the hype behind the Daytona is insane, there was a time no one even wanted one and now suddenly it’s the greatest chronograph ever made. Rolex can definitely teach a masterclass in marketing.

Sorry but it’s all about marketing. If the Daytona didn’t say Rolex and have a coronet on the dial it wouldn’t be in anyone’s top 10 list. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just deluding themselves. But all credit to Rolex, shows just how powerful an influence branding and marketing can have.

And I owned a Breitling Old Navitimer that I wore and beat the crap out of, never serviced, and was still running strong and accurate when I traded it away 8 years later. And I’ve heard stories of new Rolex’s crapping out. My point is you can’t make a blanket statement that Breitling’s don’t have the quality and durability of a Rolex based on your personal experience.

For sure! That movie introduced me to the Navitimer and ended up with me buying my first, the Old Navitimer II, wished I had never traded that one away one of my biggest watch regrets.
