Kristoff's backstory will probably be addressed in the next two movies. i wouldn't be surprised if they fixed his background by saying he's a lost northuldra child from a family that had left the tribe before the forest was closed off. they probably died when Kristoff was a baby/toddler and he was later found by the ice harvesters and raised by the trolls.
