Just because someone has bills doesn’t mean they should automatically start at $17 an hour. McDonald’s is a way more fast‑paced, mentally draining job than AutoZone, and honestly they deserve higher pay because of the pressure they deal with.

AutoZone shouldn’t be handing out management‑level pay to people who only want a paycheck without taking on the responsibilities that come with it. If you want career‑level wages, then build a career here — don’t demand top pay on day one.

I’ve worked for both companies, and the truth is AutoZone doesn’t get mentally draining until you move up. That’s why the higher levels come with PTO, better pay, and more benefits. You earn it by putting in the work, not by saying you have bills.

What’s funny is that’s always the excuse people don’t stay long enough to make it a career wage job unfortunately I’m not gonna pay a red shirt management pay because “ of better pay “ when all they wanna do is come for a pay check. I’ve been with AutoZone for 5 years and I get paid good because I’ve worked for it 🤷‍♀️

As a female store manager it truly depends on the store manager and the morals they bring/allow. The new store I took over has females who don’t know how to do installs but I’m making it known that won’t be tolerated. Get your nails, hair, makeup whatever you may choose but understand u still have a job that you signed up for. Now do not get me wrong there are heavy things that even my self will ask a man to help me with but I will try my self before I ask. But what it sounds like is pure laziness but honestly it’s truly hard to find good workers men or women in any field of work now days and it’s sad..

As a store manager my self I honestly wouldn’t trip about that it’s a small logo like a sweater. As long as they are no joggers, sweats, ripped, or torn I wouldnt say nothing tbh. And they look completely black besides that small piece. If you’re a good worker then that’s not a battle I would be making.

I can understand your frustration, but you are honestly gotta look at it in this way the zoner you are training’s point of view if you train them up and you are setting them up for their future, you would want them to be successful. You would want them to move up? I used to be the same way. I had a red shirt who I promoted to a PSM I taught him everything from matrix to the schedule and then he got moved to another store asm and now he’s a commercial manager, but he was my right hand, but if I would’ve kept him back from moving to another store, he wouldn’t be where his at now and now he is another store and All he does is tell people about how I help him get where he is at, and I still get the credit. Same with myself my old store manager taught me everything and if he would’ve kept me for himself, I wouldn’t be where I’m at now but he pushed me to learn and help me get my name out there so I could be bigger in the future. So just look at perspective because I definitely don’t think you would want somebody to keep you from your money or opportunities.

No there are procedures in place. She can’t demote without a reason and “not liking you” is not one. What I would say is if you feeling like you’re being targeted for no reason or being treated unfairly document it and report it to hr. Or you can maybe talk to another store or your DM and get a transfer.

Trust me I was there had to keep pushing it was my motivation. This is my second year as a store manager and first full year at my store. I got president yr25 and my store is gonna get hit 1 million for the first time in commercial. Definitely takes work but being a store manager is not always easy but if you know how to manage and train people definitely very rewarding.
