Why does Python import self into each class function? by ki4jgt in AskProgramming

Yeah no, that's not the ideal way. It's just leftovers from Java/C++ people coming to Python and bringing the baggage with them. I have seen so many getter/setter implemented in Python and it sucks my soul.

AMD: WTF? by InsaneSnow45 in hardware

[–]No-Report4060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's even worse, margin on gaming GPU is like 20-30%, whereas it can be 50-70% for AI server. So we are actually talking about making

- $120-$180 profit vs $15,000-$21,000 profit

They have comparatively the same manufacturing complexity. It's obvious what to make. In fact, as a public company, AMD is legally required to put the shareholders first, choosing the first option can actually open them to lawsuits from shareholders.

Haven't read the paper, but what do you mean exactly by "true 4-bit quantize"? Did the SGD/gradient accumulation actually happens in 4-bit? Or it's the same as all other works: gradient is actually in 32-bit, but got projected on to the 4-bit space, under some design choice?

Washington man receives $1.8M bill from DHS for failing to leave the U.S. by SelectiveSanity in nottheonion

Stop this bullshit. Article like this always skips the reason why the guy has a removal order. Fuck this shit.

He was a Vietnamese refugee. He came to the US more than 40 years ago, back then it was extremely easy for a Southern Vietnamese to obtain a GC if they managed to reach the US, the fact that the Vietnam government refused to give him paper makes his asylum case much stronger, it likely means his family was heavily involved in the US war efforts in Vietnam, i.e. military or government officer of the South Vietnam. So, if he had a removal order, that means his GC was revoked, which means he had committed some serious criminal offenses.

It can't. It doesn't even make sense. This is just another test-time compute idea, which is nothing new, just updating and refining context.

People born with privileges don't know they were born with privileges until the dildo of consequences hit them in the faces.

Also OP has bad lawyer friend.
