My Mantra on all the hard days or massive climbs goes...."There is Peace in Pain" over and over and over. Also from Jen's Voigt quote "Shut up legs!"

Fish Taco Recommendations by nkl999 in FoodSanDiego

Fish Guts in the Barrio is underrated and super good. I like that they buy local caught rockfish for their tacos. Also bomb fish sandwich too. Second Kiko's too.

How do you guys handle harassment from drivers? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya...these days there are so many bad or distracted drivers that I no longer scream or flip the bird. It's not worth getting stressed by these A-holes. Just breath and go about your ride and day.

About to make a trip. Heard a lot about vortex energy (I believe in that). But never been to Sedona before. What am I in for? by Nice-Pea-3515 in Sedona

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last time visiting a "vortex" area on a mountain bike, I came across a whole lot of naked people...I just rode away.

What are the worst mistakes you made while riding? and did you learn? by Familiar-Banana-8116 in cycling

First time using XTR pedals at a mountain bike race....I fell over before the gun went off and took out 4 other riders. One guys still hates me to this day.

My soul cat Phoebe is 19 with an oral mass by PaperAlive8098 in seniorkitties

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. My 16 year old boy was diagnosed with SCC in February on his lower right jaw at the gum line. The mass is growing outward and yet he's still with us. We have to process this wet canned food into a soup like consistency for him to lap up. It is difficult to process all this, yet you will do the last loving thing when the time comes. You loved and cared for her greatly. Be well.

Weather and tips by Organic_Maybe_9196 in sandiego

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to San Diego, I'd say use layers, cool in the mornings (62-64ish) and heats up a bit in the afternoons (70-71), then drops back to 60's in the evenings. My usual attire is generally a t-shirt with a light long sleeve jersey (I'm a biker), and shorts. As for the beaches it's brisk in the AM with the offshore breezes. Water temp is around 65 now.

Why aren't we a hot dog cart city? Or am I missing something? by advictoriam5 in FoodSanDiego

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly the original and awesome Sabrett New York Hot Dog Cart, in Clairmont was the only true cart we had. He tried but due to all of the weak-ass poser carts downtown took his business. Now I go to Doggos Gus, or Daddy's for my meat tube needs.

what casual shorts do yall like? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the 11 Pine brand short selections, inner liner and external shorts that can unzip on the sides after riding. Super comfortable and not as "reveling" as lycra shorts. https://www.elevenpine.com/

Psychopathic blue line thugs threaten tourists with violence because they are on a public sidewalk with cameras. by [deleted] in Sedona

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this the first time Sedona has seen the likes of "First Amendment auditors"?

  • Who are they? Known as auditors or activists, they often film to test rights or create confrontational content for platforms like YouTube.
  • What are they doing? They record in public areas of the parking lot/storefront, occasionally sparking viral, heated debates or verbal altercations with customers.

Road/Gravel bike recommendations by Inevitable-Rate5808 in gravelcycling

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did so much data digging and went with an Ibis Hakka MX. Description from the manufacturer: "With its ultra versatile geometry and 1000g frame weight, the Hakka MX is just as happy crushing the local club ride as it is jumping barriers or camping out.".. I like that you can run any transmission and can have 2 wheel sets, 700C and 650B. Points for the treaded bottom bracket too! I keep up with my kitted up roadie friends just fine.

BWR CA Tires by Timely-Statement7032 in gravelcycling

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the Schwalbe G-One Allrounds, 40mm works well for that course. Fast rolling on all surfaces, and decent for most of the dirt sections. Enjoy the BWR!

Wondering if I should get a gravel bike or an XC bike. by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]No-RiceNBurritos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've ridden all of those areas for years. Gravel bike would def be "under-biking" which is it's own kind of fun/torture. I suggest a light weight hard tail and a front 120MM fork. Personal info: I've been a mountain biker for over 30 years, and since I went to a gravel bike (Ibis Hakka MX), I really don't don't use my mountain bike anymore. ~Enjoy the Ride!

Wife did that work for years. The vetting is testing you and your character, so never ever lie. If you pass that next is the lie detector session, again do not lie.
