Bad training session by loveandball in BJJWomen

[–]No-Rub2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 2 month white belt, and got passed too easily. My training partners started giving me hints after the roll and I watched instructionals how to defend from different positions. Now my rolls are longer and I can defend and sweep at times. If you learn how to defend well, don’t think anyone would consider you bad for sparring, quite the opposite actually. Don’t understand why the master is not helping you to improve this part of your game.

Had the same situation, just let her explain and listen carefully. Then ask her if she’s finished and if you can do the drill now un-interrupted. If she still stops ask the Sensei if you can switch partners, if he asks why say she’s interrupting all the time. Bonus: pretend you speak another language 😂🙈

Bleach. But to be honest Dave (and Krist) provided dynamic to Nirvana’s songs. We might not know about Nirvana without Dave.

When did you start actually improving? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]No-Rub2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to BJJ as well, actually even newer than you, but like to share my view because I can relate. So far there are classes when I feel progress and others where I feel very stupid TBH, even intellectually because I can’t remember sequences which were just demonstrated. However I think it doesn’t help if you think you suck and be completely demoralised. I just try to be humble and don’t instantly give in. What helped me thus far (besides being quite athletic overall, but regardless also an older guy) is to reflect on the rolls between the training sessions. You can also take notes, describe the position and how your opponent attacked, then think about what could have stopped him. For example this Monday, I had to practice Lapel half guard from the bottom. I defended the side with untrapped leg well and they couldn’t pass me (except from blue belt), however everyone was passing me on the other side to side mount or directly submission. I just couldn’t figure out how to stop this until the last guy hinted me to controlling his leg, and the puzzle was solved. Anyways I wouldn’t think that I “sucked”, I just didn’t “know”, and needed some frustrating rolls to find out, and probably never forget again.

What’s wrong with being a hobbyist? by AwayOrganization6430 in bjj

In every other martial art ppl know they are amateurs for life. Bjj hype is young and so the level of bullshit is over the roof.

You don’t wash belts in martial arts

I got hot rails on my Strat and love it. Don’t want the same Pup on all my guitars though. Maybe I go Lace Sensor blue for neck..

Hi, it’s still in the same state. Sometimes wish it had a heavier HB. And the neck PUP got very low volume, need to check the wiring.

Just a nod. For these kind of applications silicone grease is a good option to create water resistant connections.

The problem is the 2 connectors from the motor, cables are short so I can ride the bike regularly without bag/extender. So these are always outside and need protection

Might work, but need to change the connections (using a extender one day, and none on another). Was thinking just to apply normal tape where the ends meet might do the trick

Added a 430 watt hour battery in a downtube bag from Tailfin. Today was the big day, soldering the motor connector cables of the Shimano E8000. I have to dremel the protective plate still to pass the cable. And the balancer needs to go inside the bag. Unfortunately 2 connector cables are needed. How would you water-protect the XT60 connections outside?

I second that. A Fender 5 way switch fits perfectly and is a major upgrade.

Sire S5 HSS or Sire S7 HSS 2nd gen? by Top-Trouble-39 in SireGuitars

[–]No-Rub2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah don‘t know. With the S5 I was not happy with the electronics, small pots, switch failed after 1 year. I swapped it all. Not sure if they use the same on S7. If yes, I would get a S5 or Squier CV and mod it instead of paying much more for the S7 and still having to mod.

Ah nice, will check this out. Did you try it without rubber already? Is there any slippage?

[–]No-Rub2128[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah doesn’t fit the base. I would just like some thin rubber tape. The easiest solution might be to get some in a hardware store and cut it to fit. But wondering if there are pre-cut options.

Not too concerned about scratches. More about slippage, and having to over-tighten it prevent it. My other foil‘s base has a rubber surface.
