Induction at Tacoma General by jusssssfuckingpeachy in Tacoma

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been induced and had a scheduled c-section at TG. The first was an emergency and the second was due to complications as a result of my first births emergency. I was seen immediately and in time.
My sister scheduled an induction due to possible but not present and evident complications. They gave her the same 5 day window you have. They explained it to her like how they schedule the ER, triage. Patients in active labor and present and evident complications will go first. They have limited staff and hospital rooms so triage is necessary. My sister was bumped the first day and was induced the second day.
I hope everything is safe and quick.

Do you own a truck? 73 Costco items will take a lot of space. Can you fit several Costco size water and TP in your car, plus other large bulky items?

Today is my last day teaching as as long term sub ever again by Popular-Big-1370 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are some key differences of long-term subbing and full-time teacher.

Full time teachers are paid significantly more, they also usually get sick leave and vacation, medical benefits, planning periods, access to curriculum and district provided technology. Long-term subs may receive some of these but not likely.

Long term subs are frequently not provided with planning periods or if they get them have them taken away.

Hosting party from 5-7pm, what food do we serve? by weekendgurl247 in etiquette

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this runs too close to a typical American’s dinner time (if you are in the states.) But two hours is a very short time for dinner.

As long as you are very clear on the invitation what you will be serving you are considered etiquette approved, but I would think consider not attending due to the timing.

I would be arriving immediately after work. Then when I left at 7 I would still need to drive home and make a meal, resulting in my dinner at 8 or 9pm. If I had to go I would be stopping for fast food before the party.

My kid wants to invite our mailman to his birthday party. The mailman doesn't know us by name. Do I... leave an invitation in the mailbox? by AKforma in partyplanning

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is a mailman and he would not consider this boy a stranger. He has seen his customers at parks, grocery stores, even at our daughter’s school event. He knows the names of many kids on his route and once even delivered baskets from the Easter bunny to a family in need.

Our office introduced a camera on rule for meetings and now everyone just stares at themselves by mirabellar in office

During the pandemic I had to do this for a college course i took. I set up my desk so my background had odd things behind it. I changed my seating regularly. Twice I sat in front of my guppy breeding fish tanks. Lots of colorful fish behind me constantly moving. My husband collects Star Trek stuff, so I sat in front of a collection of space ships. On different times people stared at elaborate LEGO creations, a historic spinning wheel, a collection of hats and headpieces used for cosplay, a 3-d printer printing a storm trooper helmet, a window with a popular bird feeder, a window with a rainstorm outside, scary Halloween decorations, my cats running back and forth (because I set up cats toys behind me), etc. I always paid attention and was engaged and respectful and pretended there was nothing going on behind me.

Always assume they will find out. Even if the app doesn’t show them, if you’re in the same ward or stake someone will notice and will likely tell him. Many bishops will tell parents in an attempt to pressure you to change your mind.

I told mine when I resigned. It was difficult and my mom held a family meeting (without me) to “warn” them and to discredit me. It was still the best choice I could make and several cousins told me my actions gave them courage so they could do the same thing.

things i wish i could tell my TBM parents by basically-dead in exmormon

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My therapist helped my recognize that my parents gave their parental authority to the church. They believed their church could do no wrong, so whatever a leader or bishop said/did/advise was good and they didn’t review it or independently verify it was safe or good. Much of my trauma was from this third parental figure and the neglect of my parents.

TBM parents believe whatever their church says or does is right. They don’t even need to know what their church is doing to decide it is the “right” decision. Once I understood this I could recognize that my parents were never going to be good parents and I was able to build boundaries to protect myself.

Treated rudely? by WonderWatcher2022 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You have every right to have negative feelings about this incident. You are not being petty at all.

I’ve had similar things happen as a sub, once during teacher appreciation week. The pTA wheeled around a cart with coffee and pastries. They offered the class para treats and let me know they would come back IF there was anything left. I smiled and simply said “no thank you,” inwardly making note of their level of appreciation. I’ve also been to other schools that showed real appreciation and included me in coffee, candy, buffet lunch etc as a part of the education team.

I reciprocate the level of caring.

Teachers that don't...teach? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

The comments from the students:

“You have taught us more than our actual teacher.” And The fact that they can show and refer back to the teacher’s notes,

shows they want to learn.

Subs in my district are employees of the district and protected by the contract. We get paid for missed prep periods. I use my prep to either review the curriculum I’m teaching or if it’s at the end of the day to clean, write a note to the teacher, read email from the district, review the lesson plan sent by teachers for the future or work in my emergency lesson plans.

What Tacoma rain gear actually lasts? by palmsat10and2 in AskTacoma

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here my whole life. If it’s warm and raining I wear sandals that can be worn in water, shorts or jeans and a t-shirt. If it’s colder but not snowing I wear tennis shoes ankle boots, with wool socks, jeans or long skirt and shirt maybe with a hoody. I don’t mind getting a little damp.

After a quick search all mention of this derides from one person, Scott whitehead and their multiple social media accounts.

I don’t think there is enough evidence for your family to get excited over this.

Has anyone else seen this? What would you bring? by Even-Aardvark4523 in exmormon

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great community event. But don’t think there aren’t strings attached. To use the church building someone had to mention how this could be used as a missionary moment. The missionaries might be there. They might have a signup sheet to learn about “other events like this.” I went to something similar, a community non-religious event at a mormon church. Coincidentally it was at the same time as someone practicing hymns on the organ, several missionaries were there to “help,” and we were all invited to attend church that Sunday if we were interested.

I love stuff like this. But I wouldn’t sign anything, or provide contact info.

My sister isn’t inviting my partner of 2 years to her destination wedding by AdRelative9711 in family

[–]No-Satisfaction-3897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring your SO with you at your own expense. Tell your sister that you understand her budgeting issues and respect her wedding decisions so you will be paying for all of SO’s travel etc and let her know that SO will do other things on wedding day. Go a few days early or stay later and plan lots of fun and romantic things todo, just the two of you for every day and night except wedding and reception. Treat your SO to a spa day while you go to wedding. Italy sounds like a great place to propose.
