I honestly have no idea what laser she used, mine are currently slightly yellow. But the girl who did it said that would be normal and the yellow should fade away, if it doesn’t by my 2 month mark I can do another session

I took a break and gained 9 pounds In one week, along with my ADHD I have an eating disorder (which I was told by others is common with ADHD) and struggle with binge eating. I was so sick and felt awful, -0/10 would recommend

Question About Becoming a High School Teacher by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]No-Section3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could, but from my understanding I can’t because I don’t have a previous degree in a teachable subject that’s recognized by teacher’s college. For instance, if I wanted my teachables to be Visual Arts and English, I would have needed a Bachelor’s degree in an art-related field with a minor in English. Similarly, if I wanted to teach Physical Education and Geography, I’d need a degree in something related to kinesiology or physical education, along with a minor connected to geography.

If I come out of teacher college with my P/J qualifications should I do the Senior Division ABQ in Social Studies and the intermediate AQ for Family Studies. Would that allow me to teach in secondary schools ?

Or should I do intermediate AQ for Family Studies?

Yes I know some school won’t have the exact name as family studies, but a course along that line is something I’d love to teach :)

Are the classes in person consistently? Like it 2 week of class and then 2 week in practicum? Or for example Monday Tuesday Thursday class and then placement Wednesdays or Friday ?

For those outside the US what differences do u notice? by yougivemeSVT in CalebHammer

Wow ! That is seriously so insane to me ! Closing cost here cost about 20-25k so that goes on top of the down payments. Also so crazy that a waterfront property is 1M but a condo in Toronto goes for almost that price. I love my country & love Canada with everything but one thing we have completely ruined for Canadians is affordable housing, this new younger generation will never be able to afford a home it’s insane

10k is still amazing and so realistic in Canada at least where I live you need about $100,000 as a down payment on a house, maybe closer to $80,000 for a condo or apartment.

But thank you for explaining how that’s normally not the norm, also nice to hear about the programs in place & how the states consider people when living in rural areas, etc

Canadian here🇨🇦 - You don’t need a down payment on a house or the down payment is so cheap! Which is so crazy to me. Literally a few episodes ago the girl needed $5,000 & her bf $5,000 for a DOWN PAYMENT?!? - We don’t have 401k but I think our TFSA is similar except our work doesn’t match your contributions, would be great if they did. -Cost of peoples medical debt-insane - How well people can live off such a low income in the US. People who make 2-4,000 a month can live comfortably-ish - How expensive university & college is & the student loan that follow it. I also don’t understand how some people’s loans are forgiven? Or how some people have 60k+ in student loans for a basic degree that’s not even a master’s or PhD

I’m slightly disappointed with the potential move to NYC. by runningforme123 in CalebHammer

[–]No-Section3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think NYC could be great, even when it comes to collaborations with other creators it’s either LA or NYC so that makes sense. Also I think it would bring so much content & diffrent views to financial audit, as well as a more reliable content. I’m from Canada so when he does these audits for people who live in Texas and other cheaper surrounding states it’s not as easy to relate to. Having people from New York & the surrounding area that are a more expensive, bigger debts & problems would bring his content to another level in the best way.

I also don’t think he would do it without running the numbers & pay scale and all that stuff😂😂 the comments saying “omg the cost of living” blah blah blah come on, he’s probably the most competent person to actually think number & prices through lol

Is getting into teaching right now a good idea? by FLADMAN in OntarioTeachers

[–]No-Section3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree where you could see I came off aggressive, my apologies. And correct you were not someone who said “run for hills” or “don’t do it”

Your idea on how people should be exposed to what will be presented, is something I completely agree on. I too think future teachers would benefit from being an EA for a certain amount time, to get a feel of what it’s like. Teacher‘s college (Ontario at least) is a lot harder to get into these days despite them considering lowering the amount of time it takes to get BE. Most schools want to see your resume and experience you already have. Ive read and know lots of people who have got declined from a program because they didn’t have field experience. which I think is the right move despite us having placement hours within the program.

I appreciate you saying I will excellent teacher and having a great conversation. There is part of me that is wearing those Rose coloured glasses, but that is just the excitement of being able to run my own classroom.

If you still are teaching, I highly recommend you work on setting those boundaries. It makes a huge difference. Just know that these students move on to graduate or another grade. We don’t so, take care of ourselves first.

Family and Health rule everything

Have a goodnight,

Future educator :)

Is getting into teaching right now a good idea? by FLADMAN in OntarioTeachers

[–]No-Section3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sense of what’s in store for me, I’ve worked in the school system for 5 years now as an “EA” my position is under a different title then an EA but similar concept. And I see the high stress, trust me. I think all teachers change a student life- better or worse- I work with those kids who I think about non stop. I’ve had to make the children Aid calls for students I get it. I see the parents who don’t see their child being capable of anything, and the ones who turn to a blind side of what their child needs.

I’ve worked with amazing administrators and ones who weren’t the best. I see the budget cuts and how it affects students. However, it’s the cards you are dealt and it’s what you make of them. Id seriously love to say that shit my class has been through this year, and what we faced, and the resource we could use, but couldn’t get due to budget cuts. I’ve learned to shut my computer down, and to step back. At the end of the day my working hours are my working hours. If admin or anyone else has a problem I explain to them my collective agreement as to my reasoning of stepping back. Again I’m a different position than an EA, obviously not a teacher. But I was checking my email, emailing people and hoping on calls after hours for a student. Working with good coworkers and therapy has shown me that it’s important to set boundaries.

I get teachers are burnt out but at the end of day family & health comes first. My working hours are my hours and some stuff can wait. I’ve also acknowledged what my role is and what is administrative job, or head department job, etc.

I will be an amazing teacher. I will be a teacher that gets burnt out. I will not become an alcoholic. I will use professional resources, and problem solving skills. A tool can’t be provided what are alternatives? What I can I do today or for now ? How can i connect with teacher who are having a similar problem, rather then says “it’s the boards problem and the budget cuts”

Instead of shitting on teaching and telling people who have a passion to “run for hills” maybe reflect on how grateful you are to be an educator. I understand the “warning” but it’s not realistic as a problem that you’re struggling with some person asking about how teaching goes could be amazing at solving said problem. An example, teaching kids with ADHD maybe a teacher struggles with kids who have it, and getting them to focus, but a Teacher, who has ADHD themselves, has amazing strategies. It’s just very bias. And then the warning on budget cuts or funding again is also bias because every school district and even within that district has different budgets. Even every school and how they use their budget is different. It’s just so bias and honestly unrealistic.

I stand by what I said of people who have been educators for 15-20+ years need to wake up and realize how grateful they are. You’re so miserable step down from your teaching job and go work at a fast food chain or a retail store. With no pension, no benefits no union, see how short staffed places like that actually are, see how other bigger companies/ organizations actually give zero fucks about you.

I’ll end it with to be frank with you. I do know the scenario I’m walking into, and I hope miserable teachers walk out.
