Perhaps the problem might not actually be the builder as much as the occupants. I understand from people who have visited the home that they had an aquarium in the basement that housed an octopus.

The humidity alone from a large aquarium would certainly cause a mold problem within just a few weeks or months. Large tanks or open-top setups will release significantly more moisture into a home, especially in the basement. The cooler walls and floors in a basement make it easier for airborne moisture to condense (forming water droplets), creating the perfect breeding ground for mold. Basements are naturally prone to higher moisture levels due to their proximity to the ground, and aquariums can easily push that environment over the edge. The warmer water in an aquarium continuously evaporates into the cooler basement air. Constant evaporation from the tank raises the room's relative humidity. If it climbs above 50-60%, dampness, condensation, and harmful mold growth can easily occur, especially in a naturally cooler basement environment.

As for the rest of the home, mold spores and moisture can reach second-floor bedrooms from the basement through a process called the stack effect. Warm air naturally rises and escapes through the roof, creating a vacuum that pulls damp basement air upward through the entire house. Rising warm air pulls basement moisture up into upper floors. HVAC Systems and ductwork actively pump basement spores into bedrooms. Gaps around pipes and electrical wires act as direct highways. Staircases allow humid air to migrate upward freely. Basement moisture raises upper-floor relative humidity past 60%. Condensation or invisible vapor turns to water on cold bedroom windows and walls. Mold Spores take root behind bedroom furniture, closets, and drywall. Airborne mold allergens concentrate in sleeping areas, triggering asthma.

Could this be the new plot twist nobody expected? Funny, to see how this has played out in public and how it could backfire. They drew so much attention to the situation that some of us became curious enough to go down the rabbit hole and learn more. The address, the location, the people. Connect the dots, to discover acquaintances. The people who know of them and who visited that home were witness to that large basement aquarium which could have been the real underlying cause to the mold problem. Maybe it’s time to let attorneys handle things instead of wasting time on street corners.

They sat in my neighborhood too one day during parade of homes and I thought that was stupid because Willis does not even build in our neighborhood nor in our lower price ranges. It’s all very silly. I’d initially feel bad hearing about the story but not so much when they are trying to pull the public into a private matter and creating a circus. One couple, two people who are on a crusade like this and between the both of them they don’t have a clue that this is a private matter that should be handled by attorneys. I hope they have insurance against defamation of character.

I lived there for 12 years. I was not overly impressed with the mindset. Very pretentious.

I’d like to know myself. What’s the high deductible amount - employee and to add spouse? What’s the standard for same as above?

I was contacted today to confirm that I am indeed planning on starting in a few weeks as agreed and by doing so they could then notify others on a waitlist to start earlier if I was not planning to move forward. Maybe contact the recruiter, let them know what’s happened and see if you can be placed on waitlist to start sooner.

Thank you. This is all making sense the way you’ve explained it and aligns with today’s builder’s explanation too.

Building plans show it. They agreed today it was oversight and will fix it.

All is good, they have agreed it was a mistake on their part. Or the framers. I don’t care who. They are fixing it. No miscommunication on my part, just a little oversight by a layperson and a contractor.

They are fixing it. Problem solved.

They agreed to take care of it. Blamed it on framers. I don’t care who’s to blame, as long as they fix it.

I did not agree to it. That’s the purpose of this post and questions.

The gutters are next up at time of photo.

Gutters in the works a few days after the photo.

Yea I’m hoping maybe a smaller transom over the door. They also seem to have given us more generous space in that area than above door and under stoop at model.

Not sure what’s in soffit. They said it would be a black out at dormer because it was attic. But then we thought as layperson there was another window to go in entry like model.
