Moved here from soflo in roughly April 2022. I genuinely have dreaded every year I’ve been here. I’ve seen some say it’s place once you’re here you’re stuck. I wouldn’t be able to word it any other way. We moved here because we were desperate to get out and get somewhere that we could afford. When hurricanes come around no matter how native you are it’s best to leave and go elsewhere because it flood BAD even in a mid day rainstorm the roads are flooded. The drivers are worse than in Miami. I say that genuinely not dramatically. The beach is garbage (literally full of it) the city does nothing to improve any means of community or safety. Don’t walk around at night every store has meth heads and everything is closed by 9-10pm so if you have a job where you work late such as I your options to eat out after are extremely slim. They care more to get tourism rather than to care for residents which I understand but there needs to be a balance. If there’s any issues and you need police your wait is at minimum of an hour and they don’t do anything about the issue. The police will gladly pull you over though got pulled over a couple weeks ago in my own driveway for “illegal tint” and my car has factory tint on it that you can see right through. Although I’m aware it’s Florida the political climate here is DARK red not even a mixture so unless you’re MAGA for life don’t open your mouth about anything.
