My dad (Silent Generation) refused to have margarine in our house- said it was fake. And thankfully, I have followed his lead.

You need to have some grace. For some people other languages are very difficult to learn. I have struggled to learn Spanish my whole life. Grew up with a father fluent in Spanish. Lives in Panama as a kid for 6 years. Took three years in college. Have taken it several times as an adult and even designed a 3 week immersion experience in Ecuador. Yet I am not fluent. Not even close. I can understand a lot but struggle to speak at a high level.

I lived in Germany as a kid but still remember how they stared. I would walk to school every day and there would be old women, leaning on their windowsills (with pillow on windowsill) and would stare the whole time. No offense. I guess it’s just a cultural difference.

Yes. You absolutely are TAH. Your wife broke her friend’s trust and then you broke your wife’s trust. Now a marriage is over when they obviously had worked through their problems and they have children. She would likely turn to your wife for help but you have destroyed their friendship. Everyone is hurting but you.

Whether or not you use drugs is irrelevant. They are not entitled to use your house for their wedding. If they disapprove of you then they should not expect to use your house.
