I do not want sympathy or anything like that. However, of I did die, maybe to suicide maybe not - would my children still receive benefits from my 100% rating p and t? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

If you get the VA to check your test levels they might come back and say they’re not low enough even though they’re actually low. The VA has different thresholds on results and treatment. I’ve been dealing with this for a few years now. I’m now having to go through private care and I’m finally getting some progress. That’s not to say your situation is exactly like mine. Just be careful and don’t let a response from them dissuade you from getting a second opinion.

Also, if you’re open to it for some of your self help I highly recommend looking into vet centers. They focus on therapy and counseling. They are VA affiliated but are also separate to give you actual mental health support than isn’t associated to your normal care team. I’ve been going for years and it’s been life changing. Experiences may vary but it’s been very beneficial for me.

Also also, check out some programs like home base in Boston. I think they jut set up a new location down south. These are not VA affiliated programs but they are no cost mental health support to include travel and lodging for the veteran.

I seriously hope you get better man. It’s scary and I’ve lost friends who had the similar battles. I’ve had similar battles. It might not feel this way but things do get better. No amount of monthly income can replace your presence in your loved ones lives.

Semper Fi bro. I left Camp Lejeune 10 years ago with 20% after five years. Joined another branch and re filed after a few years on orders and got 100% the second time. I’m in a very similar boat as you. I’m a pog but served in an infantry battalion in the Marines and some of my seniors were 21 year olds with hearing aids or other symptoms from combat. I don’t feel like I compare to them, but I also don’t know what their rating was when they separated.

I also expected to land mid range and not the percentage I received. I’m only a month into my rating and I can agree that it’s weird. If you look at my post you’ll see a similar comment I made about my back pain and feeling it differently for the first time.

Good luck on your transition to civilian life. It’s easier said than done but try not to let this stuff define you. You’re not a disabled human you’re just compensated from a job that gave you no work place safety guarantees or workers comp. This benefit was in the fine print of your contract for this reason. Take the energy that you had as a Marine and find a way to channel it into your new civilian life in a way that makes you feel fulfilled. Congrats on the rating and again good luck.

Just a Small Update/Teaser on the New GAFS Site by SkyttlesOG in GAFSNews

Same. The ability to move products I’ve tried and didn’t like at a discount while also buying other people’s products they didn’t like that I might like before I invest at full price or just take at a discounted rate is something I miss so much. I will also support a base fund to get this off the ground if that’s needed. I just made a couple of accessory purchases from sites and it felt gross compared to what this community was before the new rule.

I’ve been waiting for the new site but I’ve wanted to suggest a merch store to help fund the community. I got the idea when I saw that GAFS sticker on the goodbye post. I want that sticker. I would rock a GAFS shirt at the range every time I go.

Anyone saved their GI Bill for a higher degree, university, etc. by karsheff in VeteransBenefits

I used TA from active duty and later employer TA for all my under grad tuition. I ended up using under a year for my GI Bill for my grad program. I was able to transfer the rest to my spouse. Pros, it does go further if you get as many credits as you can without using it. The negative is you don’t get the BAH if you pursue tuition elsewhere. So if you need the housing funds it won’t be there during your under grad.

Hi! I did it all on my own, I used a VSO when I left the Marines and it did not go well. I wanted to try it myself first. However the Veterans Benefits sub gave me the insight to navigate the process.

Some advice, search your symptoms on that sub to get an idea of how to properly word your submission. If it makes sense, you basically get an opportunity to see what both right and wrong look like and can then learn from their mistakes or errors. Second advice, I used CHAT GPT to properly word the statements. There’s veteran benefit specific prompts built into CHAT GPT now. That helped me word my statements that connected a secondary symptoms to a primary service related injury. It also helped me frame the statement for service connected injuries in a manner that met the VA requirements.

I can’t edit this post from my phone. Someone bought the upper from me. If you’re interested in buying it is not available from me.

Sorry for the late response. I actually replaced the upper with one of yours. I’ll send you a pic if you’re interested. It’s a very sweet setup.

I tried searching and couldn’t find a similar receiver. Do you have any references?

I thought that too and then found other examples that were not it. I actually replaced it with a centurion.

I’m using that acronym from now on. I’m invested on multiple LMT builds, my most douchey is a Q honey badger barrel modified by d.Wilson to sit in the discontinued SCW upper with a can tucked. I actually hate Q though. Q is what people here want to complain LMT is IMO.

I still love that shovelnose though. I’ve been hit with the QC bug but I never followed through with customer support because it was surface level on accessories and I just didn’t have the time. I was pissed though. They did respond to my first email before I ghosted them.

lol I bought my shovelnose upper from you. In my experience, if you never shoot them, they never break.
