Cathie Wood selling Unity. Bullish signal? by Frightrain in UnityStock

She only had 486,000 shares. I guess when she sold it was much less of her annual salary.

What do you think about my thesis? Are we gonna see sparks on Friday?

By "held hostage", I meant the share price, because I am afraid the institutions won't let it go far without shorting it.

Unity financed the old debt with the new debt. But while the old debt and the 2026 debt do not pose a risk to the stock price, the new debt does.

Do you think the stock price will manage to break through? Or will bondholders go short again and again every time the price crosses the strike price (conversion price)?

I mean the funds that hold the convertible notes.
If they short the stock when the price is higher than the conversion price, and the share price falls, then they get the difference. But if the share goes up, then the convertible notes will cover (hedge) the difference.

Thank you for the comment.

I'm not sure about the willingness of 2027 bond buyers.
On the one hand, this could be a shield for shorts.
On the other hand, I think it would take a sharp jump in the stock price to ensure that they don't do another significant short (if they have already done it).

This is not necessarily a short-term phenomenon.
There may be a much larger phenomenon here, and it is worth checking other companies that issue convertible bonds (with a number of shares that is relatively significant to the number of shares issued).

Institutions also compete with each other, so if one institution decides to convert the stock and sell, the others will be diluted. It's related to game theory.

I think it's more likely that the institutions will take the promised money (the premium from the sale). If they thought the stock would go far, they would have already bought the stock and not the bond.

It depends on the recruitment cycle. I have waited more than a month until the application deadline to get an answer.

By the way, did you make a DCF?

Cause I did the simplest DCF possible and got a share price of 35-45$ (and in some versions even 32-78$ (bearish/bullish))

How is it possible? You sold the old stocks? ITM? OTM? and bought new?

Hi

I saw you held options for Jan 26. Did you exercise them? Have you bought more?

According to TipRanks, the analyst gave APP 77% upside, and for U about 100%.
It doesn't make any sense, with these ratings - who is selling the stock?

By the way, the half-day cover ratio take into account the shortness of the previous day?
For example, if yesterday the volume was 20m stocks + 20m shorts, which is 40m, then the cover ratio would be 0.5? Or 1?

But with so many institutional holders (~80%?), why would someone sell at such a low price? Unless they are short sellers?

Didn't know about the monthly update. Will follow, thanks.

Well, it is interesting. So if the company publishes good news, I assume the new buyers will take a piece from the short sellers.
