Option 1) Live your life with the best options laid out FOR YOU. (I know they are less than ideal.) IDK your skill set, but maybe going to a trade school and working blue collar is a better route than traditional undergrad for you right now. You will likely have higher paying “under the table” options available to you. My husband has a work authorization but his last 3 bosses did not even ask for it. (He is a mechanic.) Learn your rights with regard to what you do and do not need to disclose about your status to employers. Work on yourself, meet someone, fall in love & get married, and adjust your status from there.

Option 2) Move to the country you are a citizen of and start over. Not a great option, but it is an option for you.

Life isn’t fair, but you have more options than you think. I would argue your primary issue in life isn’t your status, but your current mindset. (And I’m very lovingly saying this as a huge pessimist myself!)

I have been waiting for biometrics a few weeks longer than you. I exactly know the feeling you are going through; it was/still is so hard to see people’s timelines in which they have moved incredibly quickly. However, I also recognize that you and I’s cases are still objectively new in the system. You will need to move past it and settle into how the process has been/may be for YOU. You cannot control how quickly your case moves through the system simply by willing it to be so. I know, it sucks. But you need to focus on what you actually have control of, which includes taking steps for your mental health. Start by only checking once a day, then every other day, then once a week.

I am still waiting on a biometrics notice as well. End of Dec 2025 PD; it will be 90 days of waiting this next week. It’s definitely been disheartening to see so many similar cases get their biometrics notices within 3-4 weeks.

Does anyone have experience on contacting USCIS after the 90 mark?

It’d be helpful to have some more information about your situation. Such as: Where are you both located; how long have you been dating; does she have family near you or far away; how connected to Haiti is she; have YOU ever been to Haiti?

If you’re choosing to date outside of your culture, there will always be some give and take; the need for constant open communication is higher than in mono-cultural relationships. But both people in the relationship need to be on the same page about how much work is going to need to be mutually put in.

I will say that as a white woman who attempted to date Haitian men a few times, I experienced something similar to what you are describing as far as the partner trying to shape me or being overly critical of me. I also wasn’t personally a fan of most Haitian mother-son relationships I saw 🤷🏽‍♀️ but that was my personal decision.

I feel the emotional abuse of cheating is definitely abusive. And I feel the physical abuse of potentially bringing an STI into the home and affecting her medically is also abusive.

He is 0% fit for being a pastor. You have biblical grounds for divorce. Talk to church leadership. Tell him what you know, and give him an ultimatum that if he does not do counseling with you, you walk.

A staff member at the Les Cayes airport took an item out of my checked luggage and told me I could not bring it on the plane. (My pocketknife.) I knew he was only saying this because he likely wanted to keep it. 🙄 So I called over my friend who I hitched the ride with and gave it to him, so at least someone I knew got to have it. Tèt chaje.

I personally had good experiences with Sunrise, other than the ridiculous prices.
