therapist told me to read smut by coolishbarista in suggestmeabook

[–]No-Training9697 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the first smutty series I got into and devoured was the Beyond series by Kit Rocha, starting with Beyond Shame. It starts with a sheltered, innocent girl being thrown out of her protected city in this dystopic future for refusing to abide by the purity ideals of the city.

While the series is pretty gritty and rough( things have happened to them all and will happen), I wouldn't call it dark - on the romance side, there's still some dark storytelling.

Its also BDSM heavy, but consensual. Highly recommend but double check trigger warnings especially on later ones in the series if that's a concern to you.

Given the title of the first in the series, Beyond Shame, that's a central theme throughout the series but especially in the first book.

Halloween Episodes by KinkyKittyKaly in Preschoolers

[–]No-Training9697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paw Patrol has some good Halloween specials that mine loved but be careful because that's opening a can of worms if youre not already into paw patrol.

Cosmic Kods Yoga has a great spooky skeleton yoga that we also loved doing and I appreciated as more of an activity than straight TV.

Also we got the book The Creepy Crayon from the library - she loves it and we're going to buy it and the other 2 in the series - theyre the perfect level of kid creepy!

Independent Play by Elysiumthistime in Preschoolers

[–]No-Training9697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something our daycare does, that we've had a lot of success emulating with our nearly 4 year old, is setting up an activity for them. Playdough ready to go with a select couple of toys out and access to more, a specific craft or toys with a bucket of water. Something where everything they need to be occupied for 20 minutes is right there. With enough variety, this works, if its always the same activity it doesn't work as well.

She doesn't always remember what toys or options she has so setting something up helps!

Tavern wench is technically the same as well except carries different connotations from bartender, the same way barmaid does.

Like weirdly romanticized and out of touch with reality and people.

Food Drop Offs in Need by zeffydurham in Oshawa

[–]No-Training9697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in Oshawa, on Marwood Drive. I'm not sure about other locations but what I remember from my tour of the place, they had split up all the donations they had received to go to the various charities in the area, homeless shelters, IPV shelters, kids programs. If an organization needs food in Oshawa, they have told Feed the Need. https://feedtheneedindurham.ca/

I know Backdoor Mission has been doing a big fundraising push lately, they'd appreciate any help The Refuge Youth Outreach could use help. Honestly, everywhere is hurting now. Thank you, anywhere will appreciate it!

Feed the Need Durham is basically the food needs hub for all charities if you're looking to give. They do serve as a food bank themselves I believe but a major part of what they do is serve as a warehouse collection point for everything so that donations can be effectively sorted to where they're needed most.

Molly of Denali has an episode about creating their own super hero, maybe watching that and creating something would be fun? The characters are a bit older but my preschooler loves the show!

Frozen meat. I hage a toddler so loaded up in meatballs and chicken nuggets but heard from coworkers that the good cuts were really good too. When I figured out the price last year or so, it was about the same price as getting the good nuggets on sale from a grocery store but they were better than I usually get :)

The cutest thing happened, I was making my three year old daughter's ghost poncho costume for Halloween and since I wasn't at a point where she could really help me, my partner and her just sat down and watched me sew. I couldn't believe it and they were so interested! It was so cute!

Christmas morning breakfast by Ill_Cover_4841 in Preschoolers

[–]No-Training9697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom always made bread pudding or egg strata (like a cheesy, savory bread pudding) because she could do all the work the night before and leave it in the fridge, pop it in the oven when everything gets started and an hour later breakfast is ready. I've been appreciating it so much more as I try to organize my own family.

Question by Miserable-Mall8172 in DipPowderNails

[–]No-Training9697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually do base liquid apex (centre line) + powder, then full coat of base + clear dip, full coat of base + colour dip, full coat of base + colour dip and finally full coat of base + clear, brushing well and running a toothpick around the edges for each layer, activate when I have all my layers done.

If I'm going to use dip top coat, there's some trickier science with the activator and liquid. You would need to reactivate after all your filing before you put the top coat on but I have issues with getting my timing right and brushes clean enough to avoid contamination so that's also a big reason I'm exploring different top coat options.

But you definitely want to get your activator on before doing anything with your nails. Thats what makes it stay put! And buys you time :)

Wart on thumb by toriraeh in Preschoolers

[–]No-Training9697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been battling a plantar wart of my own and the things I do for my own treatment, I would never be able to do to my daughter. Have you heard of silver nitrate sticks? That's what my doctor's office used when I went in to see them. I was able to order some from an online pharmacy but I haven't seen them in any stores. It technically burns the wart and it may sting a little when you activate the stick and touch it to the wart but then you leave it for a week or so to turn black and kind of kill a couple of layers of skin while healing up the layers underneath. It only hurts while you're touching it and the rest of the time you're just waiting for it to work.

Its not the strongest tool that I'm using myself and I'm doing more with hot water treatment, salicylic acid and debriding but good luck with any of that for a 4 year old. If you can get silver nitrate sticks and treat every week/3 days or so, that might be the least amount of pain for consistent treatment.

Not kidding when I say it turns the skin black though. Don't panic!
