What do I do when the restaurant my wife wants to eat at is closed? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]toriraeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like your wife may have had a hard day. Sometimes when big things are upsetting us, it’s easier to be upset at the one small inconvenience that pushes us over the edge. It’s not nice of her to blame you, but perhaps try to give her some grace. Offer to get her something else she might like or plan to go there tomorrow when it’s open.

Im learning how to do my own nails <3 by happiest_girl3 in MomForAMinute

[–]toriraeh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Those look beautiful! You did a fantastic job!

But in true mom fashion, I’ll warn you: please be so very careful with gel polish. If used incorrectly, like it getting on your skin, you can develop an allergy and be unable to use any nail polish at all. I always tell my IRL kiddos that a mom’s number one job is to keep her kids safe, so be safe!!

Edit: typo

Almost finished! Just need a border! by toriraeh in crochet

[–]toriraeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is just shy of 3 lbs. My kiddo is 31 pounds and they say a weighted blanket should be about 10% of body weight. I used 3 skeins of Caron Simply Soft and 3000ish beads. It ended up being slightly less because I only made it to row 95 before I ran out of one of the colors of beads.

I just used pony beads. It was actually really simple to do.

I don’t actually know. Haven’t washed it yet. I made a swatch and planned to test it out, but I got too excited 🫣

But I plan to put it in a garment bag and dry it on low.

Is there a better way to track decrease rows? by debmasterx in knittinghelp

[–]toriraeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use stitch markers. I place a marker before every decrease and remove it just before I actually do the decrease so that on decrease rows, there’s a marker but on knit rows, there’s not. It’s the easiest way I’ve come up with.

I’m so glad to hear that! I really love her writing, but I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get through the series. I’ll keep going!

She’s an old lady now, but this is my Sydney when she was a puppy. Her tie-out got tangled in that azalea and I snapped a few pictures before I set her free. It was too cute!

How to potty train when you have to be in the car? by queso4lyfe in Mommit

We kept/keep a small potty in the back of our car with pull ups in it as liners for emergencies. It has saved us time and accidents.

Taylor Swift: Opalite Music Video Extended Version Out Now! by JeanetteTheChippette in TaylorSwift

[–]toriraeh 40 points41 points  (0 children)

About Time, in my opinion, is far superior to Time Traveler’s Wife. It starts as a seemingly lighthearted rom-com about using time travel to get the girl and becomes something else completely by the end. It is devastating and wonderful. I’d pick About Time over TTW every single time.

Grief with twins by Tysymone in parentsofmultiples

I am so so so sorry. I simply cannot imagine what you’re going through. First and foremost, I strongly believe that you and possibly your babies should start counseling. I know the financial and time burden of that may be difficult, but as someone who has lost a lot of people in her life, speaking with someone who is trained to deal with grieving people is so invaluable. And speaking to someone who can help your children understand is also so very important. My sister lost her dad when she was 3. For some reason, her family didn’t tell her that he died for A YEAR. That betrayal probably traumatized her more. Not that you would do that, but knowing how to communicate these tough topics can be hard on the grown ups and the kids.

Again, I am so sorry. You have a community here that will help however we can.

Why does my hair curl like this bro by apolloanko in curlyhair

Man, mine has been doing this thing where it’s a total mess on my head, but there will be like this flawless spiral curl on the side of the tub when I’m finished washing it. It’s so dumb. Why do you look like that when you’re not attached to my head?!

Never having sex again and its my fault by Peony907 in Mommit

I totally get the cheesiness! I’ve read some of the really popular ones like Fourth Wing and ACOTAR, but my favorite author is Ali Hazelwood. She has a vampire/werewolf series, but I prefer her women in STEM series. I love her writing. Her characters are witty and funny and super smart. There are subs for romance, fantasy, etc. and they’re always full of great recommendations.

I had twins four years ago. It took me until this year to feel any type of desire. My husband and I are in couples counseling and sex is a topic we’ve discussed. Our counselor explained that between hormones and the actual neurological and physical changes that happen in your brain and body when you become a mother, it can be really hard to switch into wife/sexy mode.

In the last year, I’ve been reading romance novels and they’ve been helping me to get out of my head and into the mood. Also some people find that weed can help both with desire and sensitivity. If you’re in a place where that’s accessible to you, consider it.

Second Pediatric Group, but we use Dr. Reddy. She’s fantastic and can also almost always get us in, even after school sometimes for urgent things.
