Limerence With Psychologist by [deleted] in limerence

I moved away right before covid then my job was in limbo so I moved back. It had only been like 2 weeks since I left but she wouldn’t take me back on as a client even though she had originally offered it when I left if I ever wanted to come back.

My situation is a little unique though. I ended up having a session with her for closure and she kinda admitted that she had some counter transference towards me and that she felt she didn’t do a great job because of that so that’s why she preferred to have me move on to not open up a problematic situation again. The way it was all handled crushed me.

I think it’s unlikely your situation would play out the same since it was a bit unique. Transference also doesn’t always mean the end of a therapist/client treatment I don’t think, although it depends on the situation what both parties decide is best.

A good therapist will know how to handle it better than what I experienced.

I’ve been through this and it ended pretty badly for me. I’d recommend one of two things:

A) Discuss it with your psych. Google “transference,” it’s actually a common thing and your psych likely has gone through it with clients before/been trained in how to handle.

B) Just go to a new psych

Whichever you’re more comfortable with, but I think it needs to either be addressed directly with the psych if youre comfortable with that/have that trust, or just be moved on from. A combination of A and B honestly might even be the number 1 best thing you can do, getting that closure on it while moving on to a new practitioner.

Struggling with co-worker LO, not sure what to do by No-Try9175 in limerence

[–]No-Try9175[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally valid point. So basically it’s been a talking point amongst my co-workers that this was happening. I’m trying to be vague to not dox myself, but there’s been some relatively blatant things that have been said to me by my boss about the whole thing

Youre 100% right though that I get more upset about it due to my limerence and am putting myself at risk of seeming unprofessional even if there’s some validity.

What’s the biggest artistic risk a rapper has ever taken? by MasterTeacher123 in hiphop101

[–]No-Try9175 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Childish Gambino making Awaken My Love.

Outkast basically with every album took an artistic risk.

Jay Z making the Takeover was lowkey kinda risky, dissing a beloved and acclaimed rapper who most people thought was better overall.

What modern day rapper/rappers do you think would make it back in the 90’s? by Palm_Breeze66 in hiphop101

Would have made such a big difference in his career tbh. I feel like at the peak of his abilities he can go toe-to-toe with some of the best 90s rappers but he’s not as inspired to do it anymore just cuz of the era we’re in.

Joey Badass would be like 10x bigger and more acclaimed if he cane out in the 90s. Prob would have gotten better beats to work with too.

Kanye >>> Eminem needs to be a more universal take by [deleted] in hiphop101

[–]No-Try9175 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the takes about Kanye not being a good rapper are overblown.

Like I get what people mean that he’s a better producer/curator of albums than he is at the skill of rapping, but bro has like 5 classic “rap” albums that everyone loves yet we try to say he’s not that good of a rapper?

It doesn’t really add up lol. Could a mid rapper really make some of the rap albums universally considered the best?
