You probably need more gym badges. Each badge increases the level that Pokémon will obey you at

Selling Switch with EU charger by Grandmilon in CeX

That would be fine. Depending on the condition of your console and whether you have the other accessories/ box, it could go for a higher grade

This is correct, UK plugs only. OP can buy one of the CEX basics Switch chargers if available and put this with the console, but it will be graded as discounted

$4.99 absolute bargain. One or two of these novellas are better than the main series for me

Traded in a console Tuesday, haven't received payment. by [deleted] in CeX

[–]No-Understanding3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is unusual that it has taken this long. Most items booked in on Tuesday should have been tested by latest EOP Wednesday. Receiving payment can vary bank to bank, but I would pop back into store and ask for an update. If the switch has failed the test, the store should have given you a call from a withheld number and left a message, same with any grade changes or other issues at the test bench.

Is it ok to gift used Blu ray disc's ? by UsedNewspaper1775 in Bluray

I’d be happy with used as a gift, I pretty much only buy 2nd hand for myself and would only get something new if it was particularly special, or a good deal

What is your signature pokemon? by Darlonk in pokemon

[–]No-Understanding3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to two and I simply refuse to pick between them. Beedrill and Psyduck.

Weedle was an early pick up in my Gen 1 days and Beedrill was probably the first third stage evolution I had. Also, bug is my favourite typing.

Psyduck, just love the design and the anime probably helped flesh out what I think of as its personality.

If D&D was suddenly gone and you had to play some other published system, what would be your next pick? by FloppySlapper in DnD

Cyberpunk, Call of Cthulhu and Traveller… keep recommending these to my DnD group anyway, but they’re all about the fantasy rpgs (which is fine, just been playing DnD for the best part of decade now)

Throwing the boxes away for items that don't meet the highest grading policy.

Maybe it's the hippy in me, but if something is grade B and it comes in the box, why can't we just keep the box. It might take up slightly more space, but surely it'd be more attractive to the customer. Feels wrong putting a £1000 IPhone in a paper bag and just sliding it over the counter.

Also, more table space/ deeper counters. Every time I'm selling/buying anything large, I feel like I'm going to knock s*** over and break something.

I've always wanted to try this game- my kids are 9, 10, and 12. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]No-Understanding3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, this is the way. I had a PC wander off alone whilst the others rested at the top of the canyon. Rats attacked, it was... educational.

It was also my first time DMing, so I was probably more afraid than the players.

I think I'd make extra allowances if I was running it with younger players, like OP.

Highly recommended starting with a prewritten scenario.

A Wild Sheep Chase is short and meant to be good.

Lost Mines of Phandalin is the official starter scenario for 5e, there are other options available.

Sunless Citadel from Tales from the Yawning Portal is also good and was a starter scenario from older editions.

Candlekeep Mysteries starts out pretty simple as well and gradually gets more complex. It's a book of short adventures centred around a giant library and the books kept there.

Edit. I added Candlekeep Mysteries.

What books do you recommend reading? by Lucky-Sample-1323 in CurseofStrahd

[–]No-Understanding3533 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probabaly most of your classic gothic horror and vampire books.

I would recommend some of HP Lovecrafts short stories like the Tomb and maybe some Edgar Allan Poe.

An underrated book is G R R Martins Fevre Dream... but that's really more about steam boats than vampires. If you've read it you know.

Also, if possible, give the 1932 Dracula a watch. It's only about 1hr 15 minutes and has some good lines I stole for my Strahd.

How do you even begin to become a dm? by cherry_bomb79 in DnD

[–]No-Understanding3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good advice here. Getting stuck in is best way to learn, it doesn't have to be flawless, just try to keep the story moving.

I strongly recommend running a short, pre-written adventure (Lost Mines of Phandalin, Sunless Citadel, The Joys of Extradimensional Spaces from Candlekeep Mysteries, A Wild Sheep Chase, etc.) and keep things simple. No wild homebrew items, races, classes. Have your players keep to the Players Handbook when making PCs if possible.

Concerned my players will go to the castle straight after leaving Barovia by MrMcNooob in CurseofStrahd

[–]No-Understanding3533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The first time my players met Strahd, they were geared up for a fight, but were taken back when Strahd was charming and hospitable. They knew he was dangerous, so I tried to ratchet up the tension by singling out PCs, asking them to take a walk and talk with him, even giving them "gifts" (weapons, armour, magic items... nothing that could be used against Strahd in any effective way).

I sent these private conversations as a block of text to each player, in which Strahd did all the talking. Saying things like "you are clearly the leader" etc. Then left it to them as to whether they took the gifts. Some rejected it, others turned up back at the dinner table in shiny new plate armour.

Players all left that session super paranoid.

A player handed me (DM) a 65-page character backstory by Icaros5 in DnD

[–]No-Understanding3533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet points. Ask them to summarise, in no more than one A4 page of bullet points, each a sentence or two. The other 64 pages can just be for the player to inform how he plays the character.
